Couldn't tell. He had his pants on.

I burst out laughing. Thank you for this.

Me too.

I struggle with this, too.

Doesn’t bother me. Everyone is entitled to their quacky personal beliefs as long as they keep it private. Nothing is worse than when actors start proselytizing- whether it’s politics, religion or goopy crap. I appreciate that Tom keeps his mouth shut and makes exciting movies.

It’s not a ”quacky” belief; it’s a cult. Would you say the same thing about Jim Jones?

NO. I agree it’s a cult. But then again, I believe that Evangelicals, Catholics, Hasidic Jews, Mormons, Shites and Sunni Muslims, and Southern Baptist, Jehovah Witness, Christian Scientists and others are also quite cultish. Why single out just the Scientologists.

So when is the last time you heard of an American Citizen deciding to leave the Catholic faith and they are ostracized by all of their friends and family who are still Catholic (meaning literally every other catholic person in their family not being allowed to speak to them, speak OF them or see them ever again) called a suppressive person, spied on, stalked, had untrue articles about them posted on the Internet, and in their neighborhoods, lost their jobs because of untrue information provided to the employer by the church, etc. all because they just decided to leave the faith?

Both Hasidic Jews and Amish shun you if you leave.

I realize it’s a cult. I’m not debating that. But i don’t care what religion entertainers practice, particularly if they consistently deliver fun, highly watchable blockbusters. I’m just an audience member. I am there to be entertained. Top Gun 2 was extraordinarily successful so it seems I am not in the minority with my viewpoint.

At a certain level I agree but tOm cruise has always weirded me out. The crazy bleeds into his work for me so I don’t enjoy it as much.

Not in the same league, at all.

He's a prestige actor not a blockbuster actor at this point. Tommy decided to drop his Oscar quest (back in the day) in favor of blockbusters intended to fund Scientology.

He’s never been a character actor. He’s always made fun blockbuster movies, which is what audiences WANT.

Tom Hanks - there’s a character actor!

I don't know why anyone would be stoked about seeing in-person a man who thinks he's a deity and terrifies his staff so much that they they are afraid to tell him that the cookie dough is on the counter right in front of him. Cool movies, awful human being.

Tom Hanks is also a good enough actor to be able to star in and win for movies nominated for the Oscars.
