Last time I bought one the woman behind me in line commented that it’s her favorite topper and I agree. I have tried more expensive toppers, but there’s just something about the Target one.

The 1.5" topper? I wouldn't have thought that would be thick enough to make a difference... I was actually thinking about buying that one in the king size and folding it in half, but i suspect it would slide all over the place.

The parents on our school's fb page have repeatedly said you really need a 3" topper, since the school -supplied mattresses are basically just vinyl covered blocks.

We got the 2" Linenspa from Amazon, and my DD LOVES it. Did not need 3" or expensive name brand.

We do a 3 inch cooling mattress topper (my kids run hot), zip that up with the mattress in the bed bug protector (for us, this is more about ease of chaging sheets and less about bed hugs, because if they are in the dorm, your screwed). Then a mattress topper and sheets. When it's laundry time, mostly just sheets, occausionally mattress topper and sheets (depends on the kid)

Your kids use two mattress toppers?

Yes, that's why my kids sleep on straw in the barn.

I hear you but the combo of a topper with a college mattress can be pretty helpful, and unfortunately a lot of the toppers have a very pungent off gassing type smell. Agree on some of those listed - Ikea, bamboo, cotton etc

Most of these toppers are going to be hot as heck in a dorm with no AC in August. And summer storage is a challenge at colleges that let OOS students store gear in the dorms. You'd have to wedge those into a plastic bin and many will not last four years. Just skip it. They'll be fine. And if not, they can order something themselves

Pro tip: plan to toss the mattress topper at the end of the school year. Go cheap but utilitarian.

And I’m a crunchy, enviro-conscious, recycler and plogger.
