+100. I actually agree with this sentiment, as much as I don't want to. But the Mayor should not waste time standing in line.

Theoretically, the mayor is the servant of the people and shouldn’t set herself above - or in this case, in front of - them.

Theoretically, of course.

Politicians who aren’t terrible at their jobs have staffers stand in line for them to avoid this very situation.

Good politicians are not allowed to do a fun thing with their child. That's too much time spent with the people/too much time away from her job. Too insulting/not insulting enough.

They had to schedule two separate ceremonies because Bowser didn't want to be speaking at the same time with Vincent Gray (who is a long time supporter of this charity). When Bowser didn't show up (her daughter was born that day), while I felt happy for her, many were upset the accommodation including me.

I get why that was annoying, but she also had a one-time, very legitimate excuse for missing in that case. (And one that she couldn’t be sure of in advance.)

A good excuse for missing...but not a good excuse for demanding an accommodation and a second event.

She's a little clueless. It's true.

You're pathetic

Who is pathetic, pp? YOU are.

I'd explain it to you, but I wouldn't be able to comprehend it for you.

Bowser is like a substitute teacher a school never got around to replacing. It’s odd someone this bad at politics is in office for so long.

What makes it a rule that must be followed is the person providing the service or good. But again, not a law.

Good point. You won't catch me standing in line again.

And they you would talking about that!

I am not Bowser fan, but the Mayor does not have to stand in line. Sorry.

No, but it also doesn’t seem very smart. Parades are basically campaign events for politicians. They go to them because they’re trying to win over voters. But when you cut in line in front of their children, while everyone is baking in the sun, you sort of shoot yourself in the foot. The main thing a lot of people will remember is that the mayor is an ***hole who cuts in line in front of preschoolers who just want a balloon.

A bad politician cuts in front of a line with children to prove she is better than everyone else.

Why not?

How many idle junior staffers are you envisioning that Bowser has on the Fourth of July?

She had an entourage of about 60 in the parade.

Cannot imagine caring about this, personally, even if she'd cut in front of me and my kids (we typically go to the parade but weren't in town). But it's not the smoothest move from an elected official, who you'd expect to realize this would annoy at least some of the people in line. Or perhaps some of her staffers would?
