Was I married to a stranger? Even socialites get ghosted. Modern Love!

And just to keep it current, the Daily Mail notes that she's a Harvard alum whose family has donated a building and lots of $$. Doesn't make her husband less of a jerk, but the story is a bit less compelling when you realize she is an uber-wealthy socialite.

She doesn’t deny her privilege in her article.

Yeah, I don't feel so sorry for her. She'll be fine, he was probably an ass anyway.

I lost 20 pounds on an already size 2-4 body in 3 weeks when something similar happened to me. You can’t eat or sleep and feel constantly nauseous…strung out. It’s not a pretty way to lose it and she’s not bragging.

Yes she is! If not she could have just said she didn’t eat or sleep.

You will find out when your husband leaves you.

His dad was a city planning consultant — his mom was museum curator and remarried an archeologist.

So maybe his mom was elite, and she had a starter marriage slumming with a poor which was his dad?

I’m kind annoyed that kids with connected family can have brushes with the law and still get into Cornell but I guess that’s that.

But the way he swooped in when she was vulnerable after her fathers death, the love bombing, it seems calculated. I think he wanted access to her funds and assets to build the career he wanted. Curious about prenup.

And I think these white people jumped a broom at their wedding and said it was 100 year old tradition??? The pics are hard to make out, but I think they are all white. What the what??

What is it about being rich makes the story less compelling? She was upfront about the many ways she is/was fortunate. That doesn't change how awful it is for her and her kids to be blindsided. Assuming it is true.

It reminds me of Scarlet and Black by Stendhal.

He was a social climber, using her for connection and access.

His dad was a blue blood too. You can google his obit. Rodman Townsend Davis. House in Vineyard, etc.

It's equal to the statement "didn't eat". It's just you thinking it must be bragging because losing weight is something prestigious. It's not, for someone slender who is aging and/or in menopause. It's as bad as someone like you saying "I gained weight in this stressful situation" or "I was back on binge eating".

The white people jumping the broom and the thirsty ancestor name dropping in the wedding announcement is so terrible.

But this is sad, seems like Bridget has alzheimers. https://patch.com/new-york/parkslope/calendar/event/20230520/46830955-6dfb-4705-b914-cbbf9cd27226/drawn-from-memory-the-cartoons-and-drawings-of-bridget-elias
And her kids are only 20 and 18. So I'm sure Belle Burden might be more understanding that her BIL is distracted and wants to circle the wagons around his family

Not the same lady. Just the same name.

She is probably terrible which is why he cheated and left.

Cheating and leaving your spouse is terrible. But so is writing into the NYT about it.

My DH is horrible to me and emotionally abusive. He threatens me with the kids and financially. People would be shocked because he comes across as cool and collected. He is a complete ass and I’m only still here because of the kids.

If I managed to find a hot BF whom I enjoyed spending time with him and had the money to fight him in a divorce, I too would be on that first ferry back. I’m sure my DH would tell everyone how awful I am.

My own experience makes me question that they had this picture perfect marriage and he’s an evil cheater who suddenly up and left her.

I mean… fair, but that’s not a reason to decline any custody of his own kids. That’s so damaging and presumably they did nothing wrong.
