Was I married to a stranger? Even socialites get ghosted. Modern Love!

Alright I went a little deep on the Davis family. Found the brother's? wedding announcement in the NYT (2002). And I think these white people jumped a broom at their wedding and said it was 100 year old tradition??? The pics are hard to make out, but I think they are all white. What the what??

Yeah, I don't feel so sorry for her. She'll be fine, he was probably an ass anyway.

I lost 20 pounds on an already size 2-4 body in 3 weeks when something similar happened to me. You can’t eat or sleep and feel constantly nauseous…strung out. It’s not a pretty way to lose it and she’s not bragging.

And just to keep it current, the Daily Mail notes that she's a Harvard alum whose family has donated a building and lots of $$. Doesn't make her husband less of a jerk, but the story is a bit less compelling when you realize she is an uber-wealthy socialite.

I still have sympathy. The person she trusted the most completely blinsided her.

+100 with teens and 25 years together. You can’t even imagine the confusion and pain and shock somebody goes through. It is awful.

Yes she is! If not she could have just said she didn’t eat or sleep.

She probably gained it all back. It’s not really a flex or a humble brag.

Nope. He was a love-bombing narcissist and moved in fast and furious so she didn’t know what hit (read the early years of the relationship). They are geniuses at masking their inner core and they usually pick strong attractive, successful women because they get greater validation.

She is probably terrible which is why he cheated and left.

Cheating and leaving your spouse is terrible. But so is writing into the NYT about it.

My DH is horrible to me and emotionally abusive. He threatens me with the kids and financially. People would be shocked because he comes across as cool and collected. He is a complete ass and I’m only still here because of the kids.

If I managed to find a hot BF whom I enjoyed spending time with him and had the money to fight him in a divorce, I too would be on that first ferry back. I’m sure my DH would tell everyone how awful I am.

My own experience makes me question that they had this picture perfect marriage and he’s an evil cheater who suddenly up and left her.

That was my takeaway too.

Clearly airing dirty laundry in the times is a bit much but I have a lot more sympathy for an wounded, messy lash out than an absolutely heartless blindside with no empathy for the mother of your children!

Same here. Some of these posts disparaging the author are really sus. Sound like someone from the ex husband's camp doing damage control.

Hey, if Belle Burden's version of events are distorted, he can write his own rebuttal. Since they are all so well connected to the upper crust it will surely get published by the Times or the New Yorker.

+1 but you also get the side chicks out for blood. They are all over the relationship forum being mean and nasty to betrayed wives/husbands.

Did you see his trophy wife step-mom in the daily mail link? Gee- I wonder where he learned this behavior?

I’m laughing at this while sitting on the deck of my Vineyard house, luckily for me, with my husband.
