We Did a tour in DC today , and it was a night and day difference. Homeless people everywhere many were very aggressive trying to run up to our group and shouting. One pelted us with rocks when we wouldn't give him money. Some were strung out passed out in front of some nice restaurants. We also came across this right next to the police station . Wtf is going on with DC. Someone needs to crack down on the homeless in DC , these aren't nice homeless that mind their own business they are aggressive and scary. We also saw a drug deal right by the white house! Why is Boston so much nicer than DC our capital? Who is holding the mayor accountable, 99% of the problems in DC would go away if vagrancy and drug laws were enforced. We need to clean up the streets of DC like yesterday.

If my family ever starts to get pelted with rocks, I'm going to let loose my son who is a travel ball pitcher with a wicked fast ball to throw those rocks right back.

So, 4 pages to point out Boston is, has been, and always will be, nicer than DC. Thanks for the update.

If the homeless guy is throwing rocks, he doesn't have a gun does he? Not very bright are you?

Massachusetts outlawed segregation in schools in 1855, which I believe was relatively early. By the time of Brown, more states had outlawed segregation than required it at the state level, but I believe the 1855 Massachusetts desegregation predates most of them.

There was a lot of upheaval over forced busing, but forced busing is a more complex issue (people like Biden opposed it, and it doesn't seem to have much support these days).

Where was this tour? I work in DC right by the Lincoln Monument and mall. I’ve seen lots of tourists but never anyone being pelted with rocks.

I find it amusing PP think cold weather keeps the homeless away.

Maybe google Holyoke, Springfield, Brattleboro, heck even Burlington on that front.

Could have both.

Where you have poor people, you will have these problems.

Why are so many POC poor is the better question.

I assume you are LOL because DC has been forever Democrat. And that's why we are where we are. And Portland. And California

Well LOL at you if you think Boston or Massachusetts has anything other than Democrats top-to-bottom.

I will save you the time. No one got "pelted with rocks" on OP's tour.

Very unlikely if he is throwing rocks.
I can be armed too.
Cower if you want. You do you.

Former Boston resident (but way back in the 90s), I think it's this. You can tour around Back Bay, Public Gardens, Faneuil Hall, even the Financial District, etc. and not run across the same number of homeless as you would touring around downtown DC. It's broken up now, but the homeless encampment around McPherson Square was particularly egregious (and scary, sad to say). So maybe it's not that Boston has fewer overall, but they're more out of sight from tourists.

Sigh. No “maybe” about it. Boston’s homeless problem is as big as DC’s. FACT. See previous posts.

GOOGLE people.

Boston & DC's numbers are basically the same and PP hit it on the head, the homeless are in a non-touristy area of town. MAYBE you should calm down.

Assuming that there is some registration system that tracks the number of homeless people. I don't know how that would work. Last time I checked, the mayor said we only 223 homeless.

There are annual surveys where trained people count. It's as scientifically valid as any other population count

Using scientific methods doesn't make the result reliable or accurate.

It's no secret that Boston is a far nicer and more pleasant city than DC.
