Let my nails grow out to talons, saves hundreds a year on manicures and I can easily open any discarded food cans I find as I haunt the night.

I’m puzzled by the under floor heating vs mini splits.

Got married. Saved mostly on rent then mortgage.

Don't buy organic or much packaged food.

Make our own coffee. Always. Drip. Store brand. It's fine.

Installed mini-splits to replace underfloor heating. I expect that's saving us thousands a year, as well. We only turn on the units in the rooms we're using.

Ditto on the food stuff. I have lots of simple recipes that I rotate. It’s 15 minutes to cook salmon. Concurrently, cook frozen veggies in 10 minutes. Serve on a warmed plate. I like my coffee perked. I use a simple $35 percolator.

Will you share your 15 min salmon recipe?

Do most of auto & home repairs/improvements myself. Save thousands a year. Purchased an older colonial on an upscale street. Have a garden with fruits & vegetables, saves hundreds a year. Index funds etc..

I’d like the 15 minute salmon recipe too

Japanese cars for life even though the luxury German cars are tempting. Less hassle and save way more.

How do you keep the critters and birds away from your garden and fruit?

Love this, esp your metro walk. How far to metro? Also your daily walk is good forcheslth, saves long-term on health costs, even if it's small

Some of you have made up an expense and then go on to tell how to save money on it.
Last time I had cable was in 2009.
I don't have most of the expenses people are saving money on. One example: food is free at work and can be taken home.
Parking? Free at work and home.
Hair, nails? Don't grow.

After the cost of equipment and based on my previous cable bill, money saved is 150/mo. One does have to be careful not to get sucked into Disney plus, peacock, youtube TV etc.

There is an Amazon fire box that lets you dvr shows from your antennae with no subscription. I bought it on sale for around 150 I think.

Moved to a smaller house that is walkable to metro. Savings is about $12,000/year.

Working from home has saved me per year:
~$2000 in parking
~$1000 in gas
~$1000 on work clothes and dry cleaning
~$4000 on after school care

Food is probably a wash since I buy more groceries now.
