I'm sure that person is trolling. GMU is recommended by FCPS and supposedly they are more unbiased than going to a private psychologist.

Wasn’t trolling. When you want something like a Wisc done, it’s best to do your research and find a good. When you go somewhere recommended by the county, they typically tend to go along with county agenda. It’s business and they want to keep an entity happy that’s bringing them revenue.
When you go to a university it’s a students passing through doing the exam and that’s not the same as a professional trying build a reputable business.
I was in a similar situation for one of my kids where the county recommended an outside WISC examiner named Ling in Reston. Guy was terrible and didn’t care about being accurate. He only wanted to make the county happy. I learned the hard way.
There are some good examiners out there like mindwell, Dr. Daisy, there’s a group in Maryland that starts with a W, and there are more. Just have to do your research, but going in the blind somewhere the county recommended is probably gonna be like asking the county what they think the Wisc is going to look like.

However, if you go somewhere not recommended by the county, they will usually ignore the result.

Go somewhere recommended by the county and 9x out of 10 you’re f’d. Find a good neuropsych and you are good. A neuropsych will hold more weight than the people they are referring you towards.
