This was actually a major failure of the Administration in the run-up to HCR passage. There were a lot of ignorant folks out there who "just want to keep my coverage the way it is!!" Of course, every economist, left or right, understood that the growth of healthcare costs makes that impossible, and that the status quo was leading to *exactly* the situation the PP blames on ACA. But the pro-ACA side never adequately made this argument so into the void rushes information like, y'know, "death panels" and such. |
11:39 What about the Governor of Louisiana at the time or the Mayor? Do they not share some of the blame for not getting the people of New Orleans evacuated properly? |
That he's not a cowboy who invades countries to get rid of weapons that don't exist. I greatly admire that quality. |
I'm still thanking my lucky stars that McCain wasn't elected because he would have set up health care so it would have been more difficult for me to get coverage as I get older. His tax credit for health insurance wouldn't have done me any good if no company was willing to give me coverage. I know that under Obama I will have coverage as I get older even if I have a chronic expensive disease.
Tax credits just aren't enough sometimes. |
Both of them sucked with extreme prejudice. Of course, there's no way either could've been elected to national office. Unless they were Republicans. |
Meanwhile, while we're talking about things the world learns by watching the U.S., what lesson do you think most US citizens learned about tough "cowboy" talk and stick-shaking after a decade's worth of bungled foreign wars. Anyway, maybe you're right--we should've invaded North Korea. And Bolivia, too, while we're on the subject. Right-wingers really *are* children. |
Yeah, I think she would have preferred we sank a N. Korean ship and started WWIII. Hmm, do you think she would have also volunteered to join the military? |
At least we would've shown the Islamocommufascists we're not to be trifled with. I suppose for many of these folks, the greater goal is hastening the End Times so Jesus can return and whisk away all the "good" Christians, God help us. |
Uh, we just ran a military exercise in the Sea of Japan with South Korea. That is the appropriate response. North Korea promised to challenge the exercises but backed down. The North Koreans now say they are willing to talk about their nuclear program, although that is still a dodge. But it is a step forward. The next action will probably take place in the Yellow Sea, where we are going to butt up against Chinese sovereignty claims just to make a point about North Korea. That's a pretty big deal as well. |
Do Republicans know how to do anything except:
1) pander to petty-minded religious nut jobs; 2) create huge deficits for the purpose of funneling American tax dollars to their corporate cronies; 3) lie about Democrats? I was told never to lie, cheat or steal - seems to me that's all Republicans ever do? |
The boat incident happened in March. It is now July.
Democrats pandered to Rev.Wright as to not embarrass Obama. Democrats funnel money to the unions all the time. Democrats lie about republicans as well claiming they are racist, hate the poor, never give any money to charity and only care about guns. If you want to have a genuine discussion about the issues, then let's try not to name call. So far all this has been is let's bash Bush, call people names and claim that people who care about defending the country would never send themselves or their families in to service. For the record, my DS is considering a naval career when he graduates HS. So please don't make assumptions about what we will or won't do for this country. |
I like how Republicans are so quick to abandon their isolationist roots when it is convenient. Tell me why again North Korea sinking a South Korean ship tells the world ANYTHING about USA? |
