What "bad habit" or addiction do you hide from your kids?

But the swinging thing...does that REALLY happen? Do people around here really do that? and how does one go about finding other couples. Not interested in doing it, but really curious how the "jig" goes down!

I am the swinger PP - not that I swing. But yes it's an entire suburban network! Our neighbor stopped by one evening during a gathering (totally uninvited), had a few drinks and brought up her website! She then began to tell us how she got into it and how it has completely changed her marriage for the better.

It's such a bizarre network of freaks. But of course, we were totally enthralled by her real life stories and continued to make drinks for her so that she could tell us more! I do believe she was trying to recruit us b/c she did ask us if this lifestyle matched our way of life.

ick

So I think they get to know you and then insidiously draw you in.

And we live in a middle to upper class 'hood in the burbs surrounded by trees and parkland!!! So you'd never think we'd be a swinger's haven.

so funny!!!

Really? Because this is the first thing I think of when I imagine a swinger's lifestyle...some boring, suburban setting with nothing else to do.

I may not be living in exciting Manhattan, but this is definitely NOT a route I'd choose to add some spice to my life.

everyone here is so uptight and prudish. Reminds you that this country was founded by a bunch of puritans.

This isn't her and her husband sneaking a joint out in the backyard after the kids are in bed - once a month they drink, smoke, and snort so much coke they, in her words, can't find their way home. To me, that's a bit much.

Damn! You guys are so judgmental...
Once a month my DH and I meet a couple of friends and we just party hard. Swing, drinks, pot and some coke just to keep up with what happens...I mean...we don't snort 1 pound. F* no! It is just a little bit and nobody else in our group does this more than once a month when we get together. We don't ruin our lives with that and when I said we can't even find the way back home I meant we get there early in the morning because we had a very active night and we sleep in all day on Sunday while our nanny takes care of my DC.

Monday is a new day, ladies...a regular day.

Why bother having children if you won't let go of the selfish and childish behavior. Just give the nanny custody and you snort all the coke you want and enjoy all the orgies you want.

Not to be a total nerd, but doesn't the fact that doing any type of light/heavy drugs is illegal? Personally, I think it's ridiculous that pot is illegal, but cocaine?? That's really bad stuff! Is it worth the risk of getting caught and convicted on criminal charges?

feeling better now about the chip and dip habit.

Anonymous wrote:For those people who berated PP for drug use, are you saying that you would never leave your DCs with a responsible babysitter and then go out and get drunk with your spouse? Do you make sure that one of you stays sober at all times? I'm actually asking this as a serious question. DH and I are not huge drinkers but occasionally, at a wedding or college homecoming type event, we will both get fairly hammered and once in a blue moon even smoke a joint. We don't drive, of course, and we leave DCs with one of our moms or our trusted nanny. Does this make us bad parents?

DH and I went to a college friend's wedding when DD was about 15 months. My mom stayed in the hotel with DD while we were at the reception. We both got wasted drunk, came home at 3am. My mom said DD was coughing a lot in her sleep and seemed troubled, but was still asleep. At around 5am DD was gasping for breath and we needed to desperately drive to a doctor's--my mom doesn't drive--I managed to sober up by 6am, and we took her to the doctors. She had croup, and with her asthma, it was not a good combination. I think I will try to be better about the amount I drink with kids in the picture...

I sneak sodas here and there - my oldest is 3 and I really don't want him drinking it. At least not yet!

Farting with abandon with DH. We try to hide this from our DS so he doesn't become the stinky kid at school.
