What "bad habit" or addiction do you hide from your kids?

For those people who berated PP for drug use, are you saying that you would never leave your DCs with a responsible babysitter and then go out and get drunk with your spouse? Do you make sure that one of you stays sober at all times? I'm actually asking this as a serious question. DH and I are not huge drinkers but occasionally, at a wedding or college homecoming type event, we will both get fairly hammered and once in a blue moon even smoke a joint. We don't drive, of course, and we leave DCs with one of our moms or our trusted nanny. Does this make us bad parents?

What is the difference of doing it once a month or once in a blue moon? Who does this once in a blue moon is more responsible than me just because I do this once a month? Give me a break! I let my child with my nanny and if there is an emergency she will take care of it...she knows about 911 things...and of course she will let us know after the right thing to do (call 911 FIRST)... anyway...drinks,cocaine,pot, cigarette and some excited games with our friends, also married.

Hey! At least she's not selling her kid for $25 in front of a Walmart. She does rely upon the nanny, who apparently is a good caretaker. |

NO way do I believe that amy whinehouse is serious! she is totally "EFing" with us.
But the swinging thing...does that REALLY happen? Do people around here really do that? and how does one go about finding other couples. Not interested in doing it, but really curious how the "jig" goes down! |

I am the swinger PP - not that I swing. But yes it's an entire suburban network! Our neighbor stopped by one evening during a gathering (totally uninvited), had a few drinks and brought up her website! She then began to tell us how she got into it and how it has completely changed her marriage for the better. It's such a bizarre network of freaks. But of course, we were totally enthralled by her real life stories and continued to make drinks for her so that she could tell us more! I do believe she was trying to recruit us b/c she did ask us if this lifestyle matched our way of life. ick So I think they get to know you and then insidiously draw you in. And we live in a middle to upper class 'hood in the burbs surrounded by trees and parkland!!! So you'd never think we'd be a swinger's haven. so funny!!! |

I think the drugs once a month thing is fine. everyone deserves a break every now and then, and if it helps them be better parents the rest of the month, why not?
