yea, that's horrific. I used to follow the Gosselins and they talked about college $$$ pretty frequently as a justification for doing the show. |
The state of PA offered them college money for instate PA during the original show when they were babies. I wonder what happened to that |
The girls from the original seasons of Dance Moms (which began in 2011) are all adults now, and have said some disturbing things about the working conditions. |

Oh wow, that’s right! I wonder if Kate moving out of state put that in jeopardy? The deal was probably voided before that because I can’t see Kate turning down free money, but if she intended for her kids to pay anyway she probably didn’t care. |
If you are making college plans, please understand that in state/out of state only applies to public universities, which Syracuse and Fordham are not |
Kate is a narcissist. Jon has his issues but I think he is more capable of bonding with his kids.
I imagine as they move into independence and adulthood and gain a different perspective, one or 2 will stay loyal to Kate but the rest will eventually get in contact with Jon and the two siblings that live with Jon. What kind of relationship they form as adults is up to them. I don't think the two that live with Jon will ever want anything to do with Kate. |
Both Kate and Jon have their issues and won’t win parents of the year anytime soon but one thing I won’t criticize Kate for is she obviously wants her kids to be upwardly mobile.
In her situation, I probably would have sent kids to public school but I won’t criticize her for sending the kids to LCDS. I also definitely won’t criticize her for having her kids go to the likes of Fordham and Syracuse and U of Miami over the PA State Colleges. I seriously doubt those kids are paying full price for those colleges. They would have to get some combination of merit aid and need based aid. |
We're not criticizing them for going to the likes of Fordham and Syracuse. We're wondering where all the money they made went. And sending EIGHT kids to private school when you live in an area with good schools seems to have taken away from their college funds unnecessarily. |
Need based aid? They were living in a $1M house! And I would. I don’t expect her to send the kids to, say, Shippensburg, but I don’t think Syracuse or Fordham is worth at least $20k/year more than instate Pitt or Penn State. |

I’m sure they got aid/scholarships to both high school and university. The have extenuating circumstances. Kate probably paid partial tuition at the day school and they helped them earn scholarships for college. Private universities have endowments with resources to support bright kids with exceptional circumstances. |
Did they go to private school when they moved? I saw one picture of the kids leaving for school and they weren’t wearing uniforms. Obviously that doesn’t mean they aren’t in private school but was just wondering. Maybe Kate ran out of money and instead of downsizing in PA, she bought a more manageable place elsewhere to keep $ for herself and save face. |
LOL these kids were not in “exceptional circumstances.” |
I wonder if Collin abused the siblings in some way. The other siblings are still so angry at him and have no desire to reconcile. |
