Bride killed hours after ceremony

It is. Similar to other resort communities like Hilton Head, Folly Beach is fairly wealthy and down by the ocean you're as likely to see golf carts as you are to see cars. My parents live near there and everyone owns golf carts.

My parents have them in their community but they are not allowed on main roads - only neighborhood roads.

You don’t know this

“ According to the affidavits, Komoroski was booked under suicide watch at Charleston County jail because she told an officer at the hospital she wanted to kill herself. “

Guys- early reports said it was a golf cart, but they later identified as an LSV. Which has been said many times on this thread are allowed on those roads.

In this instance, they should just let her. It'd save everyone a lot of money and time.

I just cannot find it in me to have any sympathy whatsoever for a drunk driver. There are SO many easy options.

Time for a hard look at those laws.

This girl needs life in prison. Just horrific.

I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me. Just like I don't think it's safe for cars to be on beaches where people are sunbathing.

Cars are there. Kiawah, maybe? That's a gated golf, vacation community. I was so sad to hear this was Folly Beach (it's sad anywhere of course), but Folly is such a fun and welcoming place, in my long memory experience.

Drunk drivers need to be put away for a long time. No apologies, especially in 2023 when there are Ubers/Lyfts, etc. at the touch of a screen.

ExExcuses in order:

It was a mistake. The driver shouldn't spend his life in jail for a simple mistake.
There was no intent. He couldn't understand the consequences of exceeding the speed limit slightly.
Why are they allowing people to drive golf carts on the road? Roads are dangerous and golf carts and pedestrians should stay away from them.

I’m hoping, assuming, this response is sarcastic. Even as a person who knows tbe driver intimately I can say I hope she goes away for life.

She had multiple speeding violations prior and a very privileged life that she never learned from. I hope she gets the max.

I would agree but do have to wonder about allowing a golf cart on the road.

So, if I see a golf cart on the road, am I allowed to ram it?

PP here. Did I say that?! Nope! I simply don't think golf carts on a main road are safe. Do I think she's accountable for this accident and the bride's death? Absolutely.

Was the golf cart on a main road? Hint, the speed limit was 25 mph.

Is East Ashley Avenue not a main road?

Looks like a residential neighborhood. What is a "main" road?

That's what I meant by a main road. It's not just a narrow road on a golf course.

Again, this kind of vehicle that has headlights and can go over 35 mph are allowed on “main roads”.

According to the news, this vehicle was going 25 mph.

What are you arguing?

I mean, given the facts, the golf cart is almost irrelevant given that she was obviously so drunk she would have hit these people if they were walking as well

Anonymous wrote:I think I understand straight up murder as a crime - like I sometimes get why someone would kill someone. But I simply cannot understand drunk driving. It's just so preventable and senseless and needlessly selfish.

NP. I don't really understand people who don't understand drunk driving. Is it an East Coast/city thing? An age thing?

In most of the country, including the Carolinas, when you go to a restaurant or bar or club and have a drink, then you have to drive your car home. There's no other real option. It's too far to walk, there's no public transportation. Uber is convenient in DC but in many places, it's not. And leaving your car overnight is not allowed. The stigma has increased and people have started to be smarter about waiting before driving, but being drunk often means not making the best decisions. Is driving drunk the right thing to do? No. I've never done it, but I know many people who have (many of them have become wiser but not all and not always). I understand it.

Looks like she’s a graduate (maybe) of Coastal Carolina, a notorious party school. She’s only 25.

No, hammered people don’t need to drive 65 on a 25 mph road.

My niece is a graduate of CCU and this totally tracks. Almost every one of my niece’s Instagram posts is of her and/or her friends drinking alcohol.
