OP, do your research... they already do this. VCCS grads who meet certain requirements are guaranteed admission to UVa. It’s just that 99.99% of DCUMs couldn’t bear to think of their kids doing community college.

You are all missing the point tgat most European s hooks funnel their elementary, middle school and high schoolers off into the trade schools so that few are left to apply for the rigor of intellectual study at a top school. It’s entirely different from the US

Those countries have standardized education at the national level. Nobody is learning how to count with their fingers in 9th grade because they live on the wrong side of the tracks there.

OMG do you not read the college forums? Failure to thrive? Kids not leaving their dorm at college? Poor grades? Drugs, sex, and other issues? The stuff of entitlement that libs want to claim? We've created an entire class of BA grads who do not know what to do with themselves after they graduate because they should have never been in college in the first place. My DS and DD know at least seven of them from college! pick up a copy of college confidential and read! our nation wasn't sending 90% of its graduates to college 40 years ao. What happened?

This OP has posted numerous threads to discount UVA and W&M public and their admissions policies. I mention only one below. If I need to I will ask Jeff to intervene. I'm sorry OP's kid didn't get into W&M and UVA but the fact remains that these are SMALL AO PUBLIC OFFICES and cannot respond as well-funded private AO offices might. W&M has decided that EDI and EDII and RD suits what it was trying to accomplish. UVA had decided ED EA and RD works for it. If that doesn't work for OP their kid )whom presumably did't get i ) can apply UVA EA and transfer to W&M . Or they can do the financially strong thing and have their kid go to community college and transfer to W&M. But stop the bashing on publish schools. We have 33 options in Virginia. Pick one that suits your kid and shut up.

Where do I begin. First of all, 50+ years ago, only white Christian men from well-to-do families were allowed to go to college. Second, we offshored all the good-paying jobs that a non-college educated person could do 50 years ago. And third, our information/service economy requires complex thinking & educated individuals more than ever before.

Sorry your kids have such a poor social circle and gossip about their friends with you. I hope you have better critical faculties than to assume posts on anonymous forums represent any proportion of reality. The vast majority of kids at LACs graduate on time and get jobs.
