SWS has jumped the shark

I hate these kinds of groups, because I'm mixed race. I always find that I'm not black enough for the black group, but not white enough for the white group, and not "a person of color." I wish people would stop with this stuff.

This. It’s not the first email sent by the Principal that makes me cringe because it just feeds into the Republican narrative.

If you're so offended, take your kid out of the school.

You're mad because they had a social event for Black families and that all of this came out of direct feedback from black families at the school? I mean SWS can't win, first they are attacked on DCUM for being too white, then when they address specific and direct concerns that have been addressed, they're too woke?

It did feel exclusionary to be honest. Is it really ok to have [insert race or ethnicity]-only events hosted by and at public schools? I don't understand how that brings a community together.

White parent and I felt glad they did that in light of actual feedback I've heard (directly)/read (on DCUM) from other Black parents.

What is the feedback you've heard? That black families want to the school to sponsor an event where only people of color are allowed?

Where does the line get drawn? School-sponosored Black-only events are ok? Hispanic-only events ok? White-only events ok? I don't understand how this helps diversity and inclusion at all.

These posts are ridiculous. There are Black Student unions/clubs at public schools, Asian Pacific American clubs at public schools, etc. etc. Never offended me personally, not sure why you are so sensitive.

Except usually these groups are more welcoming of anyone and everyone. I was a member of the Jewish association at my school and I'm not Jewish. I just had a lot of friends who were, so I joined. I don't get the sense that these groups would be so welcoming.

+1. We had a lot of white students join the South Asian group at our school because they wanted to be part of our bhangra groups at cultural night.

I am not al all offended by the Black club. The White Guilt club and description is absurd and 100% cringeworthy. Let's all sit around and patronize black folks by telling them "yes" to everything and then pretend like we don't have opinions and/or our opinions don't matter. You can take that garbage and stick it in your Woketastic pipe and smoke it.

current parent of a mixed race kid there - COUNTING the days until my kids is outta there! thankfully in 5th - It takes every ounce of self control for me not to roll up at one of these "exclusionary" events and give them all piece of my mind - THEY are creating the racial tension if there even is any.

These schools claim to be so tolerant with trans flags and BLM all over - but will happily segregate groups its so moronic - these DEI "experts" are raking in the dough now by creating more division and fabricating problems where they do not exist. EQUITY is a sham and its so infuriating - why do elementary kids need a survey asking them if they are trans or bi-sexual - NONE OF THESE ISSUES ARE A SCHOOLS RESPONSIBILITY - they focus more on teaching activism and leftist ideologies that spelling and math.

but what Im most offended at is this poster using my Lord and Saviors name in vain.

But if whites aren't into this and blacks aren't into in and those of us with mixed kids aren't into it - WHO IS ATTENDING THIS???? what sane person thinks any of this is a good idea let alone necessary. We all have kids and we know our kids interact with all kids - no child is coming home saying I dont want to play with Billy cuz hes black and black people are inferior to whites - DOES NOT HAPPEN or I dont like Sally cuz she has all the privilege - NOPE these thoughts are created by these dumb groups ... ughhh im so over this I just needed to vent. It pains me that our children have to grow up in this era of wokeism/technology - let kids be kids.

Written like the kind of person who attacked Charlie Hedbo.

We agree: wokeism has gone much too far.

as a Christian our Lord and Savior is constantly being mocked and his name is always used as a curse word - watch any Hollywood movie and you will see this - music videos blasphemy everywhere. This is not done to Muhammed Buddah or any other deity - I dont know why you would equate me with attacking someone simply stating that my Lord & Savior name was used in vain - how does that make sense? The notion that Christians are "extremists" is a deception - dont fall for it.

I am SO glad I'm not the only one who hated that survey. I have NO IDEA if ny child is trans or bisexual at this young of an age and I hated that the school asked this and is making kids label themselves so early. I agree - let kids be kids!!!

The Panorama survey? That's DCPS not SWS specific and if you change the school, the questions are the same across all DCPS schools.l including highschools. The only question about this is the basic gender demographic question. Chill.

Not sure why we're attacking the the Foodprints program now. I love that program - my kid is a picky eater, but loves Kale thanks to Foodprints.
