Metro finished 17th lol. Paramount beat the team that finished #2 overall in the tournament (Premier Nebraska) in pool play and beat a top 10 seed in the gold bracket challenge match (Club V). Metro lost to Triangle in pool play, a team that Paramount beat in 2 earlier this season. Sour grapes from a metro parent? |

This is the issue with Metro parents. They are so selfish and territorial that they can't appreciate a historic achievement by another CHRVA team that only serves to elevate the game in our area. Successes like this make it better for all the athletes in the CHRVA Region, as the CHRVA Region is trying to play catch up to the other better volleyball regions. This kind of success is unheard of and should be celebrate by all, regardless of club affiliation. The more teams the CHRVA region can send to Nationals, the better. The more success CHRVA region teams have on the biggest stage, the more opportunities open up for all CHRVA athletes. MVSA gets this, MDJrs gets this. I wish the big dog clubs in our area (namely Metro and Paramount) would understand this and celebrate each other's successes more. |

We have a national championship for a reason. That is the only result that matters. UCONN men's basketball lost 8 games this past season, yet won the national championship. I guess they aren't really the champion? Sour grapes much. Too bad Metro couldn't win when it mattered most. |

1000% Regions from TX, FL, No/So CA all have MANY very competitive clubs. Not just one or two. Yes, there are some more dominant clubs but the Tour of Tx tournament early in the season really get all the teams primed for national competition. When CHRVA only has Metro (and they stack 15 girls on a team and only play 7-8 of them), it does not advance volleyball in this region. Our local CHRVA Open tournaments are not really that competitive because it is always won by Metro or Paramount. Having Paramount become another competitive club is just a start. We need more clubs to all start getting bids (like Blue Ridge, MD Jrs, VA Jrs, CVA) to nationals thus give players multiple options for competitive clubs. Right now, the power is in the clubs because they know high level play is only seen at a few clubs so they can carry 15 players. Compare this to TX clubs, they cannot get away with having 15 players ($$$) because the players will just go to another club to train and get playtime. TX teams only carry 10-11 players. Even Premier Nebraska had 2 players hurt and had to pull up 2 younger players for 18's national - having a total of 9 players! |

This is my biggest gripe with Metro. It’s so selfish. They would recruit better players away from their club and then just have them on the sidelines? Why? How does this help the sport develop? |

Seen very good players get attracted to play for Metro and don't really improve or develop. Unless your DD go to Metro and get decent amount of playtime (not just a serve or two here and there), your DD will not get developed. Yes, playtime has to be earned. However, if you are not playing much with all the $$$ you pay for club, might as well go to a less competitive club to grow and improve. Metro is always recruiting hitters so if you get better at another club, then Metro will want you back. Find the best fit for your DD, don't just decide on the club based on wins......most of our DDs will not play in college (5.9% of all high school aged volleyball players play in college; 1.2% play D1). |

Metro and Paramount are separating themselves from the rest of the pack. In my opinion, Metro have the best athletes but Paramount have probably the best coaching on the East Coast. With regard to the 18s, there is probably not one Paramount player that would be a starter at Metro. So to achieve 5th in the nation, is a testimony to very good players with outstanding coaching. |

Blue Ridge Volleyball Club beat Paramount 17s at Regionals so hopefully they will provide another competitive club. Agree with Paramount coach seems to get the most out of their players. The Paramount 18s - about 2/3 of that teams were cut after VA Jrs 14s. Those players went to Paramount 15s and got better each year! Metro coaches are getting complacent with their success and just find well-trained players from other clubs to build their teams. CHRVA should cap the roster of each club at 12. Love MVSA only carrying 10 players on each team. |

+1 Paramount definitely has some very strong players and athletes, but in my opinion it's definitely their coaching staff that has been the biggest contributor to their success and why they have separated themselves from the pack (nobody can deny that Metro and Paramount have clearly separated themselves from the rest at this moment in time). The same Paramount coach (owner's son) coached that 18s team since their U15 season, so for him to lead that team to a CHRVA record-setting finish of 5th in the nation clearly shows the impact that his coaching had (Metro's 18s had far more talent yet finished 17th). Like someone else mentioned, many of those players who were on that Paramount 18s team were cut by other clubs when they were younger, so it should be a testimony for all these families out there that if your kid is willing to work hard and be dedicated and buy into a system of training, they can achieve whatever they want to, regardless of where they play their club volleyball. |

That’s great… and thankfully coach nick was saved from having a heart attack. I can only imagine the stress and pressure that was put on those girls by him. They may have excelled but the cost of their emotional well being paid a high high price. |

Paramount couching is not the best on the east coast- that is absolutely false. They coach by fear and intimidation, not by teaching skills, building confidence, encouraging taking risks. IF fear and intimidation is how you categorize "best coach" i encourage you to revaluate and even look at professional coaches and how they get the best out of their players. |
