Neighbor won't put a bell on cat. Vent.

I'm pretty sure that's illegal. Plus, it might end up killing any other wild animal in the process. And of course, that wouldn't be a nice message to send the kids as how to solve problems.
The cat really isn't doing anything wrong (one could argue the owner is). So killing the cat, while solving the bird corpse problem, would not actually be a just solution, any more than you would consider killing the cat because your neighbor makes too much noise (or some other neighborly offense). Unless the problem is you just can't stand cats (which is fine, but you can't just kill them).

is it illegal for her cat to crap into my lawn?
anyway; 1- the kids don't need to know about it, 2- you can feed just the cat the poisoned food and make sure no other animal has access to it.
it's not like cats are an endangered species so no harm in having one less of them around. (why you're saying i can't just kill them? sure i can!)

I don't think it is illegal for the cat to crap in your lawn. I would take a dump in your lawn myself if I knew where you lived.

I agree. This thread is very disturbing. I believe that there are so many cat-haters, who own cats, and put their lives in constant jeopardy by letting them roam free. WTF? Why bother getting a pet if you have no plans on caring for it.

If the cat is leaving you birds...sorry, OP but he likes you. I understand its sort of gross, but your neighbor can't teach her cat not to do it. And you can't tell her to get rid of her cat or keep it boxed up.

These things are just a part of life. I think people try to live in too perfect of a bubble these days.

God yes! I consider myself a liberal animal-loving hippie... but you guys are too much! Its a cat! He probably has fun roaming outside and killing birds... if the OP has a problem with that, perhaps she should hire an animal communicator to hold therapy sessions with the cat and find out if he has anger management issues. Perhaps he comes from a broken home? Or perhaps he feels unloved because his owners let him play outside?

It's odd that as a "liberal animal-loving hippie" you took the wrong side. Sure the cat is having fun but it's not safe.

ACTUALLY, we have killed native cats in the area (though there is the very very occasional mountain lion seen in the Blue Ridge). If we had the native wild cats, they would be doing the same thing. Feral cats can be a huge problem, but I for one am very happy to have a neighborhood cat keep the chipmunks, mice, and baby bunny population to a minimum. These animals NEED predators, which are severely lacking in urban suburban areas.

We have enough morons with their bird feeders keeping that population going strong. At least the cats create some balance.

Being kept in a box so nothing happens isn't living life. We drive to work and that might not be safe. I ride my bike. That might not be safe. There are so many things in life that are worth it, and you take a risk. I would never subject a cat to 4 walls its whole life. Its just cruel. You might as well capture all those wild birds and keep each one in a cage because being outside the bird can get eaten by a cat, starve, get hit by a car, etc....

Chipmunks, mice, and baby bunnies already have natural predators like the black rat snake.

Then put it on a leash and take it for a walk. If you really feel you must have a cat that runs free move to a farm in the middle of nowhere and get yourself a whole slew of barn cats. Moron.

I can assure you that the bunny population is going strong, where I live, which is a sign of an unhealthy environment with not enough predators. No one can keep a garden that is not fortified like fort knox. I welcome the domestic cats, bring them on. BIG DEAL if there is a bird carcass from time to time.

I see your love and respect for animals extends to people. Calling people morons is pretty rude, especially over a cat debate.

I am sorry but it absolutely moronic to get a pet, not care for it properly, then tell everyone who doesn't agree with you that THEY are the ones who are wrong.

Definitely keep my children in a bubble. They are NOT allowed to watch Toy Story.

I am letting my cats roam. Kill them if you dare. You don't know where I live, and you don't know which ones are mine. Plus, they would never eat your stinking poisoned food or let you grab them without ripping your arms to shreds.
