Black woman here. I had something similar happen to me and dcum did the same gaslighting. I'm sorry that happened to you. It sucks to be judged by others due to the color of your skins and sucks more that others try to undermine/disregard your experience.
None of you saying this was a coincidence or any other nonsense better be calling yourselves allies. You are part of the problem, not part of the solution. |

Some people on this thread are being dismissive and/or gaslighting, but raising the idea that this could be a coincidence re: the park police coming is not necessarily either of those things. I raised the possibility that it was a coincidence in part based on my own experiences calling the police as a white woman - they rarely have reacted with any speed or concern the couple of times (in my lifetime- I don’t call the police frequently) I called because of something “suspicious,” including one time when I heard my back door slamming open in the middle of the night. So it is hard for me to believe the police would rush out to investigate much especially these described circumstances. |
