Thanks for being a good human today, OP.

I'm sorry op. That's so unfair. Thank you for doing a good duty.

That really sucks and I’m sorry you had to experience that. Thank you for being a good neighbor.

What is a mini raven?

I even googled it. What I got was little statues of ravens that you can buy for playing board games. Why would a person want a tiny statue of a bird to pick up trash?

I think they meant ravine
ravine: [noun] a small narrow steep-sided valley that is larger than a gully and smaller than a canyon and that is usually worn by running water.

She called the police on me for appropriately disposing of litter.

Gaslighting will not work today.

You were not clear on this in your OP. You said they inspected you and that you thought they took a picture. You didn’t say anything about them calling the park police on you. Did you hear the phone call or are you assuming? Because, the park police does make rounds and they do patrol parks.

Ok. They did. And in my free time I will try to FOIA for the call .

Btw what would give her the right to inspect me? This is my neighborhood. She is not a member. It is small and we all know each other.

You have every right to do what you were doing (and thank you for what you were doing!), but she also has the right to look at you, as rude, challenging and annoying as it feels (been there). I find it hard to believe that a non regular visitor to the park had the park police phone number on hand and more so that the police would promptly respond to a call regarding an unarmed person collecting trash, but stranger things have happened, I guess - I suspect the police arriving was a coincidence.

There is not expectation of privacy in public. People can stare at you and take your picture. They did not break any laws or rules.

Oh well I guess OP shouldn't mind then. How would you like it happening to you?

I dislike lots of other people’s behavior in public. I can’t control it though. What is your point?

You are being so dense. If people were taking your picture, you would wonder why. You wouldn't brush it off like you say you would. You would think to your's "why are these bmw women taking my picture while I haul trash?" So what if they're allowed to do it And you're acting like op is unusual for contemplating this.

I often faux snap photos of aggressive and dangerous drivers and bikers to try to shame them/cause them to modify their behavior for fear of being reported, and I also often worry that I (middle aged white woman) am going to be attacked/challenged by them (usually white males, often young).

There are all manner of random fast food, liquor bottles, even empty car oil bottles at the fringe edge of my nearest national park. For several weeks a huge Amazon (big yellow) box-bag has been sitting discarded, blown away, what have you. Today I had enough. While walking my dog I crawled into a mini raven grabbed the box and dragged it to the nearest trash can. I left it there at the guard shack next to the can.
That is when I realized I was wrong. A white women and her white male companion in their bmw i with md tags starting with D, decided to slow down, inspect me, and the box bag. I’m pretty sure she snapped a picture. It’s 8 something in the morning and I think I should explain. Then I realize I am an adult that moved a significant amount of litter to it’s proper location I owe this “woman” nothing.

Before my walk was completed the park police showed up.
Stop policing our bodies.

First of all, thank you for doing your part to make the world a better place by picking up trash. I just spent the morning doing volunteer trash pickup at a National Park Service property here in DC, so this is close to my heart.

The second thing I'll say is that you're a person, a human being. You're not a "body." I'm not sure why that term is so popular these days, but it's really dehumanizing, IMO.

Uhh…what? People are allowed to look other people up and down in public parks…you know this, right?

You actually think your faux snap photos will instill fear of being reported?
You just end up making making all middle aged white women seem like Karens.

Op, im so sorry this happened to you! Snd as a fellow “plogger,” I want to thank you! We trash pickers get a lot of long looks and judgement. People should spend less time wondering what we’re doing and reflect on their own filthy and lazy ways.
-Indian American litter picker in DC. Next time let’s roll together and flip those aholes the bird!
