You can see on this image that if a balloon is launched from central China, the prevailing winds will take it on the path these objects are taking. Since these objects don't have their own propulsion, they are at the mercy of the prevailing jet stream. The jet stream isn't going over those cities.



However, this current object which was over Montana yesterday and is now over the Great Lakes today is on a direct line to go over 2 major Canadian cities, Ottawa and Montreal.

The object just shot down over Lake Huron was OCTAGON in shape and flying at about 20,000 feet - so definitely an aviation hazard.

Yeah, I'm sort of wondering if the balloons are a deliberate diversion from the very serious Ohio train derailment. Hazardous gases spilled out of the train. Who knows what kind of damage those gases can do in that area plus where the wind currents take the gases. We always seem to get storms that go through Ohio before they reach us, so I'm wondering if the toxic gases will reach this area the same way storms travel.
