Will Ford ruin the local environment there rather than in areas where industrial / manufacturing has existed?

Industrial/ manufacturing has existed in Southside Virginia. It used to be a huge area for textile manufacturing.

Th question was about Marshall, MI which may be best known for historic home tours.

It’s mid-Michigan. It’s near Battle Creek. A giant manufacturing site will not be close to a historic downtown with home tours, it’ll be close to the intersection of the two interstates nearby.

Why VA voters fell for the Youngkin BS is beyond me.

After the CCP balloon debacle, I'm happy that Youngkin refused their presence in VA. Good for him.

100% this.

Youngkin, right again.

Sure. Refused a Ford plant that would have given work to US workers employed by Ford. How many billion of $$$$$ worth of Chinese products are sold in Virginia every year, products made by Chinese workers and that enrich China and its economy.

This is a joint effort with Ford and CATL. You know who owns CATL? The Chinese. And, there is no ownership of companies in China without the CCP involved.

The Marshall community is not on board with this plan either.... https://www.woodtv.com/news/calhoun-county/residents-push-back-on-proposed-marshall-megasite/

Why would Ford cut a deal if it was going to undermine their brand or national security standing?

It's a scummy exotic deal to exploit the new federal manufacturing mandates and to qualify for state and federal giveaways.

Sure. Let's allow China to retain ownership of the technology used in building those battery cells - which is exactly what the Ford agreement entailed.

Good for Youngkin.

Pretty much this. And it was going to help the poorest and most Republican region of Virginia.

Good job, Youngkin!

Yes, good job, Youngkin. He can attract another industry to the area - without ties to the CCP.

Or, he can keep his supporters dumb and jobless.

Like you?

That may give you some peace at night. But for those people who could have used those jobs, that corporate business point runs a little cold.

Youngkin is possibly the worst governor this Commonwealth has ever had. Feckless. Untruthful. Malignant.

And I feel completely, 100% opposite from you. Another opportunity will present itself - one that's not tied up with the CCP. He made a wise decision. Have a great night gnashing your teeth!

I'm sure another opportunity will present itself for NoVa. Not souch for the blue collar republican areas of the state. Their loss I guess, it's who they vote for.

Likely mostly soul crushing $16 an hour temp factory jobs where they string overworked saps along for years on end before giving them a decent salary and fringe.

That sounds like exactly what this Ford plant would have offered.

1. Not a Youngkin fan but good for him on making this decision if China retains ownership in the technology. When American companies invest in China, they have to share the technology with the Chinese co-owners.

I know so many blue collar republicans who simply move to where the jobs are. You act as if we live in the Stone Age

Several automotive suppliers are already located in Marshall, MI. The location is very central in the automotive world.

I think Borg-Warner also has a facility there, though not listed.

Dumb. We have the technology too. This is purely about building a plant, creating jobs, and supplying a huge battery need in America. Don't worry, there will be plenty of American-owned battery plants being built in America to follow. Youngkin blew it.
