Letting the homeless and criminals take over the nation's Capital? Shutting down schools for a year because of something no worse than the flu? Forcing people to take a medical treatment to keep their jobs? All the transgender craziness? Flirting with WWIII?

NP. I have had the flu and Covid. Covid gave me heart problems, the flu did not. Just because you didn’t have a problem with Covid, doesn’t mean others didn’t. You can’t possibly be that self-centered.

Are you saying because Covid gave you heart problems, it was ok to shut down schools? In a healthy society we sacrifice adults to protect children, not the other way around.

Klilling off parents is not helping children.

They have a conscience and care about inequality.

My question to you is why are all Republicans glassbowls?

I posted before reading. Yep, virtue signaling becomes critical after wealth “I’m rich but I really really really care about others”.

I’m rich and care about others too. As a republican though, I don’t have a need to wear that on my sleeve. Remember that the research shows that Rs donate to charity more than Ds; they just don’t feel the need to crow about it. I guess, like me, they just don’t care what others think of them.

Why do we need charities? Honest question.
The basic purpose of charity or giving is communal and individual welfare. If practiced on a large scale and regularly as well, the charity can get the wealth circulating in society
You get a tax write-off for donations vs paying taxes that could cover the same type of work.
So you think you get a gold star for donating to charities, which btw reduce your tax burden, but you arent willing to pay taxes to increase welfare of citizens.

THought I understood yall correctly. Thanks for making your arse so visible.

Maybe PP thinks that charities are more effective than governments at actually helping people? Maybe PP wants to choose what causes to specifically support? These are totally reasonable positions.

I'm transgender. What is the "transgender craziness" you're talking about? You mean our existence?

Because the GOP has too many racist, misogynist, religious extremists, and anti-science conspiracy theorists in it. And as another person stated, the really wealthy do just fine under either party.

I know it’s hard for you to understand, but there are people who believe in paying taxes because we understand the importance of infrastructure, social safety nets, national security, scientific progress, environmental cleanup, and other benefits from taxes. Individual, private philanthropy cannot tackle hunger, poverty, education needs, big health concerns, or climate change alone. Not by a long shot. The biggest reductions in poverty in this country were a result of government action—taxpayer dollars at work. And how does the minimum wage ever rise? Through Democrats.

I’m probably not the wealthy demographic you are thinking of (330k HHI, live in PG county, sent my kids to public schools). I grew up poor so I consider myself rich in comparison to where I came from. I see nothing offered by the GOP that appeals to me. NOTHING.

+1. This is exactly right. The only benefit the GOP offers to me is lower taxes, and I don’t see that as a benefit. Everyone, including me, should be paying their fair share of taxes. Taxes are why we have a functioning country.

Sure...but prove it. Not just feelings. What charities are more effective and is there an actual comparison? And is the reason your charity is more effective because you donate to a church that is tax-free and is able to get away with all types of crazy financial crap because they are a church? And you say that churches are more effective, but they tend to focus on specific populations so what you are saying effectively, is that your charity is more effective because it goes to the people you want to support not to everyone.

And no, when you actively choose to reduce taxes that could help anyone- you don't have reasonable positions. They can do that on top of reasonable taxes to support all causes.

Also, a lot of those donations are to churches and not necessarily to charities. While they may mean well, it's a bit more self-serving than a pure charitable donation to a non-profit.

Actually, Trump screwed us with taxes. The uber rich did fine, though, as did his real estate buddies.

I disagree with all of your opinions and allegations.
I don't vote for the people who control DC, which has always been full of homeless and criminals in my lifetime.
Shutting down schools because... pandemic? Millions dead?
No one held a gun to people's heads to force them to get a shot.
I don't care about trans gender. Live and let live. You guys are the ones freaking out over M and Ms.
Would you just let Putin take over all former USSR republics? I'm sure Trump would.

I’m the PP you responded to and did great under Trump. Mainly because when he lowered the deductions table we increased our withholdings. The vast majority of people really do not understand taxes!

NP. I have had the flu and Covid. Covid gave me heart problems, the flu did not. Just because you didn’t have a problem with Covid, doesn’t mean others didn’t. You can’t possibly be that self-centered.

Not that poster, but, yes. Boomer lives are worth a year of school shut downs to me. I don't like that schools shut down, but it was a reasonable response. Maybe all the teachers didn't want to be "sacrificed" for your children!

And don't forget denying Obama his legitimate SC pick.
Having a party to celebrate taking away people's health care.
Threatening to charge women with murder for abortions. Vaginal wandings. Forcing ten year olds to carry pregnancies.
Outing Valerie Plame.
Gutting the voting rights act.

Silly, we don't sacrifice adults to protect children. We sacrifice children to adult's gun rights.

I know several families who helped their children with school during Covid with great success. Apparently, the difference is that their parents actually cared about taking responsibility for their children's education and others, like you, found it easier to blame your laziness and incompetence on schools closing.

Letting the homeless and criminals take over the nation's Capital? This was Ronald Reagan when he closed all of the federal mental facilities

Shutting down schools for a year because of something no worse than the flu? Trump was president and did this
Forcing people to take a medical treatment to keep their jobs? No one forced any medical treatment, private sector did that on their own, unless federal dollars were involved. Why do you like spreading a virus, and since when did the flu kill a million Americans in a year?
All the transgender craziness? I thought the right was live and let live, libertarians? I guess not
Flirting with WWIII? Trump was a national security nightmare, he woiuld let the Chinese and Russians walk all over us
