Do you see your kid and the application? What does it say for the status? What date was it last updated? |
I’m not sure if you were trolling, but if not, I will answer… Some people like HB because it’s smaller, kids have more flexibility/independence. Kids that are more “artsy” see to be attracted to it (but not everyone who goes there has an interest in the arts). Some don’t like that there’s not a sports program, although you can play sports with your home high school, however, Amazon on the camaraderie at your local high school. Some people love it, some would never think twice about applying. It’s just a personal preference. |
DP. Here is a screen shot of ours from a few minutes ago. I don’t particularly care if my kid gets in, but am sharing it to demonstrate that the other posters aren’t making it up or incompetent. ![]() |
Different poster. I don’t see it either. I’ve checked on desktop and phone. Definitely not user error. At best it’s an APS error. But it seems suspect to me. Do you see your kid and the application? For HB-Woodlawn, I've heard that some schools' allocations never move, even #1 on the WL won't get in. Does anyone have a sense of whether that may be different for the outside-APS allocation? That's our situation.
Also, is there a cutoff after which everything is set, or is it like college where it can continue to move up to the first day (or even later) of school? |
It is exactly the same on my computer. No waitlist number. |
Yes it can move during the summer or after school has started. It all depends on the timing of when someone gives up their spot. My kid got into HB off the middle school waitlist after the school year started. We gladly took the spot! Good luck to everyone! |
Isn’t the outside of APS allocation something like 1. I do not think you have a snowballs chance unfortunately. |
Maybe they stopped counting after 50. ![]() |
Perhaps so. 😆 Ironically, if I scroll down further it tells me my other child’s waitlist number for sixth grade entry at HB. For 2020-21. They’re now in 8th grade. |
Ours says last updated today (1/31) so maybe they’re actively updating. Ours doesn’t have an orange circle so maybe yours is still “in process”. |
So if you’re seeing a waitlist number, you don’t have an orange circle? |
Outside of APS allocation for 6th grade is: 1 spot. You will be waitlisted for that one spot. So if you are #1 and the current person's family decides some time during the summer they won't move to Arlington after all... then you'd be in. I think it's about as likely or unlikely as from any of the elementary schools with 2-4 spots and 15-60 kids wait listed. |
That’s true for us. Have a number, no orange circle. |
More likely, they already live in Arlington, but are enrolled in private. But, yes – one spot. Our school with 3 spots never went to the waitlist last year. |
