A dozen eggs is $8 at wegmans

So a group is “alleging” these higher profits. Where is the proof?

This hit piece is nothing more than an opinion piece by a Forbes contributor not exactly newsworthy.

Yes there are record profits, but you anti-capitalists refuse to look at profit margin or even try to understand it.

This write also cites one producer yet fails to recognize there are other egg providers across the country.

I paid 6.79 for 24 egglands best yesterday at Giant and watched a young couple next to me select a dozen store brand for 4.99 — weird.

Wrong TJs is 4.50 to 4.80 for organic dozen.

I pay $3 for a dozen from a local farm.

So I assumed the prices were due to the avian flu situation but it looks like are also reports of large scale price gouging.

So over the current prices though

So you are saying that even though the profit dollar figure is high, the actual profitability of the egg industry is not that high as a percentage of total income/expenses. Do you have any proof of that?

From the first quarter of 2022 to the last, the company’s margins grew more than threefold, according to Farm Action.

“To increase your gross margins by 345% from the year before while consumers are looking at at least doubled egg prices — I mean, that’s just theft,” Carden said.

Cal-Maine also sold more eggs during the last 26-week period of 2022 than in the same period of 2021: 559.4 million eggs by the dozen sold compared to 524.2 million eggs by the dozen.

“We see big agriculture controlling this narrative about avian flu and supply chain issues,” Carden said. “But when you block out all that noise and just look at the numbers… there’s not a substantial decrease in [egg] supply.”

I bought a dozen jumbo cage-free brown eggs at Wegmans for $5.29 last week.

You look foolish when you parrot right-wing talking points. There are plenty of eggs to be had for lower prices. If you want to pay more for fancy eggs that’s on you.

They probably don’t check prices and just grab what they need. Why is that weird? That’s usually what I do.

Maybe they don’t need 2doz? We don’t use a lot of eggs. 1/2 dozen can last me a month. I don’t like buying a dozen because I know they’ll end up getting thrown away

I guess Whole Foods is using them as a loss leader because they’re still under $4/dozen.

They were $3 at Trader Joe's when I went on Friday.

Everyone should boycott buying eggs for a couple of weeks.

Certainly everyone should boycott buying $8 eggs at Wegman’s because they’re cheaper everywhere else.
