I see. You’re an expert on middle school expressions of sexually nationally based well as DC. Good to know. |
There are other liberal enclaves outside of DC (e.g., California). |
I’m sure you would. |
I think there’s merit to this. We live in another state. In each of my kids’ middle school classes of 50 kids each, there is one kid who is gay. It’s accepted but not trendy to be gay. |
The phenomenon is observable everywhere 12 year old girls have access to TikTok. So, everywhere. |
People who live in bubbles often do not realize they do. |
My issue with threads like these, which are ubiquitous on this board, is that their purpose is to elicit “don’t worry, it’s a fad” responses. Y’all say you’re not homophobes, yet I haven’t seen a single post celebrating the new openness or even lending it any credibility. And when you use words like “majority” what’s implicit is that you don’t believe that what many of the kids are saying are true.
So, yea, threats like this are inherently homophobic. Sorry to break it to you. |
It is not even occurring everywhere in the DC area. |
Now this is absolutely laughable. The most you can actually know, and even that is odd AF, is that one SAYS they’re gay. Not that only one IS gay. Jesus. |

It’s not being a sock puppet to respond to lots of posts. Being a sock puppet is responding to your own posts. |

If the new openness allows LGBTQ kids to feel safe and comfortable on their skin, that’s fantastic. But I can’t have an intellectually honest conversation about this without acknowledging the performative aspect to some of it. From the group texts I’ve seen among my DD’s friends once they all started to hit puberty—sorry, but I just can’t give it 100% credence. |
It is not happening where I live, which is a pretty conservative area. Probably just a coincidence, though. |
