How to improve MAP-R scores

I know it's terrible! It's only in the top 17% nationally and everyone who is paying attention knows MCPS scores are maybe 1% above national based on the data available to all parents in parentvue.

You can get free reading reading passages and comprehension questions.

Is there a way to get answer key to comprehension questions as a parent/guardian?

You can sign up as a teacher and create assignments for your child. Then you get reports on what they get right/wrong.

How do you do that without school email?

I just did it with email. I created a class of one - my kid

I tried creating an account…as a parent..,but the site keeps stating that one must be an educator to sign up? Can you elaborate further?

Not PP, but what the PP is saying is correct, the two sites mentioned -newsela and common lit can NOT BE ACCESSED BY PARENTS, it’s only accessible to teachers with verified school email addresses and school districts. So the people who say they can address it are full of BS or are also teachers. Why lie…just say they are not accessible to common parents! Shame on them!

I signed up at the start of the pandemic when our teacher recommended it for students who were above grade level and needed more challenge. Back then they had a parent account option - it sounds like perhaps they have eliminated that now. I think you can still download materials for free, and there are questions at the end for your child to answer, which you could review.
