Same. I love those and my mom always makes them. My kids won't eat anything with nuts so I never make them myself. |
When I was a tween, I took over the holiday cookie making and I loved making these. I had a recipe in my mother's old Women's Home Companion cookbook for "butter balls" which were the Mexican/Russian teacakes and I loved them and made them every year. Still love them, but don't make them as much. |

Strangely enough, this list has most of my "dislikes" -- thin mints, pecan sandies, thumbprints are my least favorite holiday cookies. I also do not enjoy almond spritz, peanut brittle, shortbread, pizzelle, Italian snowballs, and those little Christmas mice ones. I LOVE these cookies though: https://www.kingarthurbaking.com/recipes/ginger-spice-cookies-recipe Add in a 1/2 cup of chopped dates! |
I do homemade Oreos. So good, and you can make the filling mint if you want. |
I'm not sure if they count as cookies but the "truffles" made with crushed Oreos and cream cheese.
I can't eat more than 1/4th of one, it's just too rich for me. |
Another oldie but goodie you don't see anymore are the rum balls. You crush vanilla cookies, mix in melted chocolate and rum or brandy. Delicious, and fun with the rum in them. |
These sound nice. Maybe don't belong in this thread. |
I remember eating these at a holiday party when I was a kid ![]() |
Funny we received one in a box of cookies and while a few people in the house have broken off a piece to try/eat no one had eaten the entire thing. Sweet yet flavorless. |
If they are flavorless, then they aren't made well or it's a bad recipe. Homemade with good peanut butter and a soft cookie (not a hard cracked cookie) are really good. |
Different strokes. I love the pb thumbprints, and do not care for half the cookies you list. No reason to yuck other people's yums. There are treats enough for everyone. |
I don’t like cookies! |
Hahaha this was my reaction, too. Team Peanut Butter Blossoms for life! |
Same. I make them every year. |
