Having one or two age groups practice at the St James once a week does not make the team a Nova team. But okay. DNA club fees are the same as most club teams. |
The high school teams workout at st James. |
Not all them. My son is on a high school team and works out in PG and DC. |
| Still interested in mid level teams in nova for girls? Everyone says there is so much basketball but I’m having trouble breaking into a team. Tried this fall but it was evident the team had no spots despite paying for tryouts. |
What teams did you try out for? That will help answer your question. |
Don’t wait until they advertise for tryouts. Reach out early and try to find a team beforehand. It’s better to choose a team, than to look for a team that’s willing to choose your kid. |
+1. Don't bother with tryouts. Reach out and see if your kid can attend a practice. They will always take people if your kid is talented (and for girls they may just need numbers). |
| Update a month into the HS season I can report that, at least on the girls side over here in eastern Fairfax County, travel/AAU experience was not necessary to make the freshman teams. Maybe a couple FCYBL/lower level AAU players on some teams, but appears to be mostly former rec players. |
| Does MC have freshman basketball? |
Fairfax Stars |
Which high school? |
Marshall, Langley, McLean, Chantilly, Herndon, and the Arlington schools. This was consistent across all the schools we saw (maybe with the exception of 1, W&L, IIRC) -- 2 or 3 FCYBL/lower AAU players and the rest were rec level. |
You're saying the freshman team for those HS was mostly AAU? I find that shocking. |
| She's saying it was NOT mostly AAU. |
How do you say you are racist without actually saying you're racist. |
