Winter park parties?

I can’t stand summer and winter park parties. Do something else.

I would go since I take my kid out anyway in winter but I wouldn’t want to stay long and probably would not eat anything. And I wouldn’t really be thrilled if it was colder than like 37/38 degrees.

Is this still a pandemic thing or do people just not want to spend money? When my youngest was in preschool I don’t ever remember fully outdoor parties in the winter but my youngest has been invited to 2 park parties in December. I am totally fine with outdoor play dates but it would seriously stress me out actually planning a party like this in the winter.

Sometimes public parks have community buildings you can rent for parties. In our neighborhood park people have parties at the playground and they rent the community building next door. So the kids can play at the playground and there is an indoor space right there for food and as a backup if the weather is horrendous.

I grew up in a big house in the suburbs. So we had parties at our house and we didn't worry if siblings showed up or people didn't rsvp and we could invite the whole class. Hard to do that in smaller houses and apartments. A park keeps the causal and open feel. Also they money is significant. Those indoor play places cost a lot!

The indoor playgrounds do cost a lot! Seems between $500-1000 depending on whether you rent the whole place or not. Doing this for multiple kids, multiple times will really add up. I feel like I would do this once per child and that is it.

Yeah, I grew up in a rural area and everyone had parties at their houses. Park parties seem like the equivalent of that for townhouse/condo/arpartment dwellers.

I grew up in a pretty small house until I was 10 and we still had parties at our house. It was fewer people though. We weren’t inviting 25+ kids plus their siblings/parents/grandparents, which everyone seems to think is included these days.
