What does your nanny do while your child is napping?

Hopefully relax, like a mom would do.

She rests. Recovers and gets the energy for when the child wakes up

Exactly. Or does the government need to mandate minimum break time for nannies? Op sounds like she wants to take advantage of the nanny. How shameful.

The government does mandate it. It's 30 min for an 8 hr day, unpaid, according to the government.
If a child sleeps 2 hrs, then there should be some other productive activity happening. Otherwise I assume the nanny is as lazy when child is awake as she is during the nap.

Our nanny rests when baby is sleeping. Like around 3 hours per day.
Which is fine, she's a great nanny and we love her

No way this is a real employer. You're paying her $60+ daily to surf the web on the couch? She doesn't tidy up, clean bottles, prepare snack, fold baby laundry? Who does all this and when? A mom employed out of the house? Another imaginary nanny?

Babies sometimes sleeps 3 hours, others days sleeps just 2 hours nap or 1 hour.

Yeah like many moms and dads

For our part-time arrangement, she does light housework and organizing. If it was a full-time arrangement, we would have a different break arrangement. We pay well.

Historically, the nannies who set boundaries against cleaning were worse with childcare. Overall, for the cost to justify itself, we need multifunctional nannies.

Haha good luck. If you pay well they will do some cleaning if they want.
Do you want to hire a housekeeper or a nanny? Do you want the caregiver to pay attention to your child or not?

Go fk yourself.

What makes you think parents actually do that? There are chores of basic adulting that need to get accomplished, who do you think does that? Groceries, bills, contractors/fixing things, cooking, organizing, financial management, etc. It's a very childish belief that grownups do nothing and relax every chance they get. They don't.

It depends. Sometimes nanny does not get a break at all if DC is not taking long naps, on other days she gets as much as she can get.

Eats lunch, watches tv, plays on her phone. Might unload the dishwasher or do a quick tidy. She watches the kids and keeps the house somewhat respectable looking as the kids tear through it during the day but she isn’t expected to do any organizing, deep cleaning, or laundry.

She would eat her lunch, straighten up, do laundry, watch TV.
