Probably the Thursday or Friday before. They generally try to minimize the time parents have to complain before school starts.

The snail mail postcard doesn't arrive 'til then, but normally the teacher is listed on parentvue a few days earlier.

In my experience, teachers are posted on ParentVUE a couple days into the pre service week.

Don't ES find out either from a postcard/email sent by their teacher or when they arrive for Open House the Friday before school starts?

Why do MS students have a homeroom teacher? In ES they didn't have a separate teacher for this.

They rarely go to homeroom. Usually just at the beginning of school or to handle quarterly report card distribution.
