Ikea crib as first crib?

Exactly. But I also read that IKEA gets its bargain lumber from the Chernobyl area. Europeans won’t touch it.


Have you....ever been to Europe or know any Europeans? Because (a) IKEA is a European company and (b) IKEA is pretty ubiquitous across Europe. Far more common in family homes than it is in the U.S.

Many European (and American!) corporations mass produce in China. Americans have lower quality standards than the EU.

like many others, we loved our IKEA crib and bought a different mattress (organic, etc.). The crib was fantastic, I used it for both kids, 5 years total.

I’d definitely go for a European or American made organic mattress, if possible.
