This is from another thread: https://www.apsva.us/budget-finance/. Class size was reduced by 2 at elementary level (K-1 is now 24 max, 2-3 is now 26 max, and 4-5 is now 28 max) and by 1 at high school level. Are you sure all the classes are at 26 or above? I don't have the data but at the open house I could barely walk through the "classroom" (which in the pods isn't a room at all bc it only has walls on 3 sides) without bumping into desks. |
Not sure about all. My kid’s class had 27 names and a friend said their’s was 26. |
27 is over the max. Assuming all the other classes are at least at 26, they have the justification to add a 5th class. |
25-26 kids in all kinder classes. They can’t find a teacher so won’t form new class. |
So this is confirmed, there won’t be any new kinder classes? It would be so disruptive but was afraid they had started hiring process and were committed. |
Our school hired a new teacher after the first quarter and split the classes mid year. It was definitely disruptive, but probably better for everyone in the long run. So they could be still looking for a teacher |
When would they let you know if it’s a possibility? We strongly don’t want to move. |
Well last year Taylor added a new 1st grade class in March! So it can happen any time during the year. But with teacher shortages, who knows if it will happen at all. |
