Is this being investigated as a hate crime? I haven't heard any evidence pointing that way, and without evidence we can't really make that assumption. I follow the Jewish press very closely and have not seen any mention of this murder in terms of hate crime.

Victim was visibly Jewish, hate crimes against Jews are up 60%. Jewish press is absolutely referring to this as a hate crime. They haven’t located him yet, but it would be surprising to me that it would not be at least charged as a hate crime.

Thanks, I'm the PP you're responding to. I am very aware of the rise in violent crime against visibly Jewish people, especially in public spaces in NYC. Against the background of our own Treyon White's conspiracy theorizing (among others, but he's a sitting councilmember!) and a general sense that demonizing Jews is fine because it is "punching up" (surprise ahistorical twist!) the possibility of an antisemitic murder is deeply worrying.

I'm just saying we can't make that assumption without evidence, because when it does happen for real we need the wider community to take it very, very seriously. I really haven't seen any articles in the Jewish press indulging in that speculation beyond mentioning that he was visibly Jewish, because they know how important it is that we are sure before we sound that alarm.

Wow, this guy is nuts. He won’t be taken alive, unfortunately.

Why is it unfortunate?

It's fashionable in DC to express empathy for even the most stone cold of killers. Not sure why any is due to someone who obviously doesn't value any life, including their own

It does not matter. Without the murder weapon they aren't going to charge. Miller will certainly dispose of the weapon know that he knows he's wanted.

First, how incompetent are the police to let him get away. Second, why do you think they can only charge if they have the murder weapon? This isn’t CSI. They can charge and convict based solely on eye witness testimony.

I wouldn't know this was the same person unless I really look at bone structure. Glad they have the two pics so you can see him from different angles. Hope they find him and that he serves real time if he is guilty. Is he under 26? Then he'll qualify for all kinds of leniency being Charles Allen's city and all.

No jury will convict on murder without the murder weapon. The DA won't even charge in Virginia without the weapon. It gets referred back to the police until the weapon is found.

False. Where do you get this from?

Demonstrably true.

It still doesn’t look like the same person to me. The facial features and skin color look so different in the two photos.
