| My 9.5 yr old doesn’t order off the kids menu - she became vegetarian around her 7th birthday and the options aren’t great. At our local burger place she’d rather do impossible burger or black bean burger than the grilled cheese option on the kids meal. We ordered Mediterranean the other night - my 5 year old loves the kids platter (shaved beef and lamb, pita, tzatziki) and my older DD did a Greek salad. Yes it was a bigger portion than she needed but she could save some. Some places we order she can eat the whole portion - especially if it’s a day she’s had a long soccer practice / game. |
| It depends on the restaurant, some places have barely any food, and my 6 year old is still hungry. |
I’m not against kids meals because of the portion side. I am against them becsuse 90 pct of them are dumbed down food. Why go to a restaurant and eat chicken nuggets, mac and cheese or a hot dog. That type of processed food is easy enough to buy at a grocery store and prepare at home. |
This. It is not necessarily about needing or wanting a bigger portion--my kids just don't want chicken tenders or mac and cheese every single time we go to a restaurant. |
It’s this. We like to go to a sushi restaurant that has a kids menu that is basically chicken nuggets, pizza, or a hot dog. DD doesn’t order off of it because we are at a sushi place and wants sushi. Not all kids want the restaurant “kid food.” |
| Starting 6, my kids were expected to order from the adult menu. Since portions were bigger, we asked them to split a dish of choice either with their sibling or a parent. |
| My daughter ordered 2 kid meals for a long time. |
| Still does at 11 |
