Flyover country schools

I am from flyover (Ohio)+ was proud to read in the NYT that the majority of CEOs come from 4 states - (CA, NY, OH, and PA). So that equals two coastal and 2 flyovers. Even Steven.

“Escape?” I couldn’t wait to escape DC to return to my hometown in “flyover.” Life is so much better and more fun here.

The only schools in "flyover country" that are really worth it are UChicago and Northwestern.

OK. You clearly have no credibility, so you can go away now. But I will play too: the only “worth it” school in the Mid Atlantic is Virginia.

So are North and South Carolina not “flyover then?

NP not PP, but North and South Carolina are not “flyover country.”

So someone tells you they are from NC or SC and you would categorize them as a coastal elite? You people are weird.

Nobody said that. They are just not from flyover country.

Why not? People fly over those places all the time to get to bigger, more important parts of the country.

I’m from there and we think you are annoying and condescending you use it, but we’re too polite to tell you that.

I'm from there too and I think it's funny. You need a thicker skin.

DP. It’s not used as a term of endearment. I mean, look at this thread to understand what ppl mean when they refer to flyover country. If that’s funny to you and you are truly from that part of the country, that’s pretty pathetic.

PP just likes looking down their nose at all of the "little people" back home.

One of my top colleges to recommend is Grinnell in Iowa. I wouldn’t care where it was located because it’s simply a superb college experience.

“Bigger, more important?” Chicago says hold my beer, DC.

Every time I flew out of DC, I was thrilled beyond belief.

Three of those are coastal states. I'll let you look on a map and see if you can figure out which ones.

DP. Some parts of PA are “culturally” coastal, but it does not, in fact, touch the Atlantic coast.

Since you want to be technical about it, The Delaware River estuary reaches up into Pennsylvania. An estuary is an arm of the sea, so Pennsylvania meets the technical definition of being a state which does in fact touch the Atlantic Coast.
