Miami of Ohio, in Oxford

[and, yes, I know the history and reason for the names; still funny]

It’s Miami University. Not “Miami of Ohio”

It was a university when Florida belonged to Spain.

What? Plenty of people call it Miami of Ohio. Did you go there?

Honestly, from a branding perspective they should run with Miami of Ohio. Miami University just makes people think of sunny beaches, which Oxford, Ohio lacks. No one cares which university was founded first. Could be why the reputation is falling.

Ha made me check. Google search lists it as Nunya Business school. Pretty funny. Skidmore sounds like a prison name.

An acquaintance went to Beaver College in the 90s (and proudly wore a Beaver College sweatshirt to a party, to our great collective mirth). Sadly, they changed their name to Arcadia University in the early 2000s. Boo.

I grew up in the same city as Skidmore and it was referred to as Skuzz-more. Lots of wanna be hippie types, but that was in the 90’s.

Sounds funny, but this is a strong contender for my daughter. She is going to their dance intensive next month. Their dance program is nationally recognized. It is also very affordable for oos students.
