DC Wave tryouts question

Junior wave is like a pre team. It’s not part of the DC wave USA swimming team at all. Junior wave is run by DCPR

Yes I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a 6 in dc wave. 8s yes. 7 maybe but they would need to be exceptional

It's a crapshoot. Truly.

Two of my kids joined at 7.

My kid "made the team" when he had just turned 6 after his second summer swim season (Wave. Not Junior Wave). Annnnnd...then it turned out (which we should've realized from the start) that it was too much too soon for him. He just completed his first club season as an 8 year old and it went much better.

My daughter started DC Wave as a 7 year old. It’s a lot for a 7 year old. She had a fabulous coach and swam well, but those winter practices were a struggle to get her to attend. She not an exceptional swimmer.

DC Wave does not have a minis program like some other area clubs. So unless your 6/7 yo can keep up with the 9/10s, it’s not going to be fun for them, and if it’s not fun they’re not going to want to go.
