DC Wave tryouts question

What is the possibility of a child entering the DC Wave?

My daughter has her tryout this Wednesday and she is very excited.

In addition to DC Wave, what other league do you recommend we should try?

Very low because they have so few spots. Where are you located?

If she is legal in three strokes she’ll be “recommended”. Whether there is space is another issue.

Is there typically wait list movement at Ramsey for an 8 year old? She’s number 4 on waitlist.

There is deinfitelt movement for a while. People try out for multiple clubs or find they can’t make the commitment. As a bonus though you get first dibs next year after returning swimmers. Presuming you got recommended for dev 1 - usually spots in there in July as nobody “swims up” to it for the next year (people go from dev 1 to AG1 or dev 1 to dev 2)

Relatedly, we got into DC Wave off the waitlist but were assigned a time/week day that conflicts with another sport. What are the odds of being allowed to move around during the year? Same level, just different date/time.

like a dev X A/B switch? I don't think there's an official way to do it, assuming there is no space available in the one you want to switch to, but once the season starts the coaches may be amenable to a swap, particularly if there's someone who wants the opposite.

Yes, I exactly. We just want the other section.

I would not assume that you’ll be able to swap. Email DC Wave and ask. If they can’t move you and you can’t move your other sport then give up your spot to someone who can.

Could you swim at Barry farms?

Reviving this thread as am curious how many spots people think will open up for younger kids for 2025-2026. DS is seven and did Machine this year (recommended for Junior Wave last year) and is legal in three strokes. Machine has been OK for endurance but has not really received stroke coaching - does stroke and turn thru summer pool a bit, but not legal in fly.

Well, it’s officially try-out season. How many 7 and 8 year olds will DC Wave take this year?

My son did the tryout and was recommended for Junior Wave. Can someone tell me a bit about it? The tryout evening all the coaches were very busy and I was not able to ask anyone. Thanks

It really sounds like they don't take any six or seven year olds. They should make that clear so people don't waste their time.
