Virginia public schools have been deceiving parents

I’d love a national curriculum and national standardized tests. But I don’t think that’s realistic and it would be great if at least Virginia could invest a lot in public education and get excellent curricula and excellent teachers and have high standards for all our students. Too bad Virginia Republicans don’t seem too interested in doing that.

(And can we not blame state-level democrats for long school closures, it was democrats who passed a law mandating schools stay open, schools being closed too long was the fault of county reps in heavily democratic areas)

That's funny, OP, in your logic, if democracy is failing in the US, we should adopt the Russian model instead? Or: kids are falling behind on Reading, let's adopt more Lucy Calkins' "guessing" method.

Common Core is non sense, the idea of a common standard in the US is great, but the Common core written standards and curriculum is bonkers.

We know you want to break public education. I say look to the founding fathers who wanted a public education system and stop thinking solely about yourself and your kids.

American Center for School Choice
The American Center for School Choice
American Federation for Children | Alliance for School Choice
Aspire PUblic schools

And I haven't even LEFT the A's in the alphabetical listing.

It’s like they never learned how to properly Google.

They are so stuck in this idea that charter schools are better. But in FCPS we have school choice for kids who truly apply themselves. It’s kinda amazing.

Center left voter who historically has voted Dem here. I would love alternatives like charter schools and backpack funding. Deep blue places like California and DC have public school alternatives. In California, you can use state funds to homeschool! Why can’t we have options?

APS and FCPS both have options: many immersion and magnet schools available in both.

Exactly this.

Tons of options. Do your research and you will see that we have immersion, AAP, choices between IB and AP high schools, magnets and special Ed.

The whole narrative that public schools are failing children is ignoring the fact that here in FCPS is thriving. FCPS is well funded and successful.

And it shatters tthe GOP lies so they want to shut it down.

Vote blue all the way down this November.
