Outplacement

Wow those small class sizes. I didn’t realize Sheridan was so tiny. That must be hard from a social perspective.

Not sure what was up with GDS this year, but if you look at outplacement numbers to specific schools, they do vary a bit from year to year. The current 7th grade is the same size, so outplacement will vary with the preferences of the kids in the class.

How many are going to Sidwell? Was it 2 or 3? I also heard 3 to Madeira.

GDS is no mystery - they over enrolled and have a huge cap (as in no seats ) right now.

One year, it felt like all the kids wanted single gender so a large majority went to single gender schools. Other years, a different school has been popular. You get the idea.

The DC privates do really well with outplacement. If a kid doesn’t get in, it is likely not the best fit school.

Sure. Also,.keep in mind that these released or anecdotal lists do not reflect all the places the kids got accepted - just where they choose to go. Parents of nursery students considering schools might assume that if you get accepted to "prestigious school X" that's where you go. By the time your kid is looking at middle or highschool, your decision will be way more nuanced. And yes, the schools kids are drawn to really varies year to year! I'm trying to keep this in my mind as I look at college lists for High Schools - they are not fully indicative of anything, especially if you get really granular with your "counting".

Only one going to Sidwell. Another got in but is going to a magnet school. None GDS.

And one of the Maret admits also got into Sidwell. Yes, none to GDS. Not as many to Burke/Field this year as last year.

That class is an anomaly. Most classes are in the 26-28 range. The current sixth grade class has about 29 or 30 students.

Good news for WES. I always liked that school but wondered if they have good STA placement.
