Treating it like a charity. It is a failure at school charity. Bring your A game in resources and pay the teachers well. Invest in school physical plants. Place the old pastors into semi retirement - they don’t understand education today. The rest will follow.

Some are run like businesses. Catholic schools are falling out of favor. People don't find them more attractive than public schools. Many Catholic schools have closed or will close soon.

My DC attends the most excellent independent Catholic in DC and it’s a disappointment. Many of the teachers do not understand students are are inappropriate in the way they teach and the way they speak. Many are misfits and do not believe they could function in a professional working environment outside of a school and would not tolerate them.

What is with the unhappy St. Anselm’s mom? She has invaded every post.

No one said anything or named St. Anselms on here. I don’t think I saw any schools named in here.

Woods was the only school name mentioned earlier.

Where is he going? I thought he was moving because of a family health issue.

You are correct, and it required him to move to Rhode Island. He's the new Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Diocese of Rhode Island.

He got a job as president or something of that nature of Catholic schools in Rhode Island. It was announced the same day there as it was announced to Anselms. The job has became available around last summer and was likely interviewing this whole time. It was easily found online and I don’t know why it was left out but is odd to not be forthcoming with that information.

yes, that's really odd and annoying.

Sad to hear SAAS is a mess. It’s a great school.

My family has connections to a lot of the Catholic schools in the area. So many of these schools are in such turmoil. Not good for Catholic education.

It is not a mess, but no one gets to say anything nice on here without being accused of being "administration," so you will only hear a disgruntled point of view, sadly.

There is one disgruntled SAAS mom, who takes every opportunity to post negative things abot the school.

SAAS has extreme positive and negative features. My kid loves it. His work discipline has greatly improved and all his teachers this year are great. At $30k a year it’s much cheaper than the independent DC privates, gives out a lot of financial aid, and supports a diverse student body. I will guess it’s letting in more URM and low income households than the “progressive” independent schools of DC. Because parents can’t interfere in the school, kids are free of helicopter parenting.

Downsides are some of the teachers and staff are poor, and have been that way for years. Support for learning disabilities is poor. BOD clueless and has no current parents on it. I don’t think the HOD controls school at all.
