Bullis Expansion?

The school age population of children is supposed to fall nationwide for a decade and Montgomery County is not growing. Maybe they are trying to get ahead of the next baby boom when Millennials start having children in large numbers 5 years from now.

County schools are large and overcrowded and not a lot of privates, especially ones that are not religious. It makes sense.

Looks like they are looking to build a new lower school and increase enrollment. Guess they are really seeing an increase in demand.

Bullis School recently released all of its college matriculation information. Not only was the absolute transparency fully embraced and appreciated by the public, it revealed off the charts admissions to excellent top schools.

As a result, people are now saying Bullis is a “big three” although some people don’t care about that label as it can be perceived as pretentious.

Of course, demand is up. I’m not surprised by this at all.

Will you please stop. No one is saying Bullis is a “big 3” except for you. We love Bullis and think our DC is getting a great education. We were also impressed with the transparency and results for this year’s college admits, but posts like this just look stupid and bring out the haters.

Back in the early 2000’s there were talks of merging with Norwood. How times have changed.

I heard they are adding an extra class for every grade because they are rolling in so much dough!

One, the head of school totally creeped me out. He wreaked of cigarette smoke, was a close talker, and gave me a used car salesman vibe.

During the reception, it was extremely segregated to the point where my daughter even pointed out that the Black families were huddled together in the corner while the rest of the families chatted like they were long lost friends. We intentionally moved to the middle of the room to try and meet people, and people talked past us.

Then, while taking a second look at the lower school, we approached the Spanish teacher. My daughter announced that Spanish was one of her favorite subjects. The teacher lowered her voice and said, "Spanish here isn't very good."

My daughter and I both wanted to like Bullis because the facilities are really impressive (and it was her safety school when she'd been waitlisted at her top choice). But the Spanish teacher's odd comment had my kid in tears driving home.

Luckily, my kid got off the waiting list at her first choice the day contracts were due so we didn't have to try and make it work. I love that parents love this school, but for us - the flash was just not enough to make up for some of the other stuff.

You should seek some professional help. Highly doubt your kid was in tears over the Spanish teacher's alleged comment. Good luck with whatever school took your daughter off their wait list. Sounds like Bullis really dodged a bullet.

The Bullis Headmaster does not smoke.

The public school you pay for. With less than stellar college admissions. Enjoy.

As long as they aren't forcing certain agendas into the curriculum like MCPS I would pay the money.

Mother and daughter sound unhinged. Were people really talking past them or just trying to politely get away?

All W schools have better college admissions outcomes. Silly waste of money.
