Over dinner convos with my kids, I explain that I do not have to countenance the views of misogynistic homophobic racists. I now have to add seditious to the list. |

Schools are way too selectively focused on certain current events.
Has anyone's children had a classroom discussion about the harmful effects of masking and distance learning? And the role of teachers unions in keeping schools closed for a longer period of time? |
| Forget how they are treated. Some of these kids grow up to be appalled by their parents' conduct, especially if it may be cosplay where the parents are warm and supportive at home, including of their school curricula, then turn around and spew bigoted homophobic memes in public. Sometimes the apples are desperately trying to roll away from the rotting tree. |
So sedition should not be covered, but public health measures to protect everyone in a pandemic should be a subject of focus? |
|
I would never allow my children to have contact out of school with anyone in the Trump administration. |
I would probably not prohibit my kids from contact with off spring, but I would probably be hard pressed to allow sleep overs or extended play dates when the parents had public profiles based on hatred. |
| So if I am a Republican should I not allow my kid to associate with kids whose parents are not Republicans? |
That's up to you. The Republican party is no longer a political party that advances opinions and agenda through time-tested processes and institutions. It has no governing purpose: It is held together by blind allegiance to Trump and whatever performative idealism is on deck this week: anti-masking, CRT, trans kids, etc. It has lowered the collective IQ of our country and strives to destroy the very idea of objective truth. None of this is OK. |
If you espouse homophobia, misogyny, and/or racist beliefs, I may be hard pressed, depending on the age, to allow my kid to hang at your house, though your child may be welcome at ours. |
This is an apt, accurate, succinct description of the GOP at this time. A party that will not agree to participate in debates, ones that have been moderated for years by a range of networks, including Fox News, is not a loyal participant in the democratic process. |
More likely, no one from the administration would want their children to have anything to do with your children. |
One of the only things I approve about Melania is that she kept her son out of the spotlight (for the most part) and, during the presidential years, put him in a school that was a good fit for him rather than the ''best'' school. |
Of course not--for the same reasons they are replacing entire library boards with people who know nothing about libraries and purging books from the shelves. All censorship is fear-based, propagated by people who do not believe their own values and opinions are enough to retain or persuade people. |
yes, that's been well demonstrated. |
