Georgetown v UVA?

This.. and UVA is way more selective. I think it's close to 0% acceptance rate this year.

I heard it has a negative acceptance rate this year!

For a Harvard-trained lawyer, this is shockingly thin on analysis. UVA law school is not equivalent to UVA undergrad; the law school is recognized as top 10, the undergraduate institution is not. It is entirely feasible that top law firms interview at UVA Law, while Wall Street firms do not interview at UVA undergrad.[/quoti

I hate to break it to you but UVA Law has been T6-T8 for a very long long time.

I hate to break it to you, but there is no such thing as T6 or T8 in law school rankings. It’s T14.

You ARE dense. UVA is T8. Google USNWR law schools, scroll to no 8. That's how we law schools refer to it, as in "My LSAT is only a 173 so I'm applying to T5 and down".

Um, most of UVA was built by slaves. And don't forget that a certain founder of the school was a notorious slave owner, and impregnator.

The you are not on Wall Streey. Please google Darden grads Wall Street and come back and aplogize.

We get it. You think highly of UVA. Many people do. You don’t have to get all bent out of shape because someone wasn’t familiar with UVA before moving to VA. I no longer work on Wall St. I live in McLean in a sea of UVA alumni.

Well then why are you posting some absurd first person account about being surrounded by Ivy types but never heard of anyone from UVA in NYC? Be responsible I. Posting. At a minimum google UVA Wall Street before posting.

You don’t have to feel so offended that some random person on the internet who worked in finance in nyc was unfamiliar with UVA before moving here.

We can easily pay $80k and plan to pay that for college and grad school. My kids can make their own decisions on where they want to go to college but I would still pick Georgetown over UVA as a person who is from out of state who wasn’t familiar with UVA before moving here.

I have 3 kids. Maybe one of them will end up at UVA.

To clarify. It's $80+ a year, x 4 years. it will be much much more when your children apply. That is what is happening at the private schools so don't get locked into anything at this stage. You also pay that with after tax dollars so you have to make $120K or so to pay $80K. And grad school is on top. Law schools and other grad schools are now 100K a year, unless your kid is doing a PhD. Public schools make much more sense for undergraduate if you think your children are going on to graduate school.

I'm not offended at all. I like people to use correct facts. If someone can google something before saying "well I have never seen a UVA person on Wall Street" then do so! Check your facts before littering the pages with first person observations that mean absolutely zero to the reader.

I like that concept. Going out and finding kids to reject that didn't even apply.

I read they are taking back diplomas.

Omg so we’re all the eastern seaboard and southern schools including Harvard but it didn’t involve Jesuit priesrs selling them.

Please educate yourself before posting. There is an entire wiki page devoted to all of the NE colleges (including Harvard and Yale), mid-Atlantic and southern institutions thst were built with the help of slaves. It’s called “Slavery in American Colleges and Universities “. Might be an eye-opener for you. And the “impregnator story” as you so nicely put it has been debunked.

I just didn’t know of UVA before I moved here. I am sure there are people from UVA on Wall St. of course there are. That still doesn’t mean that I encountered them or knew them when I lived in nyc a decade ago.

Working class kids in the Northeast are likely not aware of UVA.

That said: it is a great place for undergrads.

I think you’re confusing the med school with the hospital, which Georgetown sold to MedStar more than 20 years ago (because it was a major drag on the university’s finances).

Not confusing them. Med school still runs a huge deficit. (I work there). Rest of the University subsidizes Med, which still bleeds money.
