In their opposition to the stay, I believe Coalition for TJ said the easiest fix for this year was to get rid of "experience factors" and remove the 1.5% seat guarantee. Then just admit the top ranked kids based on the current essays. |
You can literally hear the fear and desperation in these parents.... |
+1.... how are they going to explain to their kids that their advocacy was directly responsible for their child's hard work going down the tubes when they'd have been fine if C4TJ had just left well enough alone |
Still think the most likely outcome is that the stay is granted, especially as new information has come out indicating that low-income Asians benefited greatly from the new process. Historically their numbers were in the "too-small" category just like Blacks and Hispanics (meaning less than ten), but under the new process they pulled 38 admits for the Class of 2025. This number deserves to be celebrated and is thrilling for all pro-reform advocates. |
Seems the real solution, if there are more qualified candidates then spots, is to open a second or third school. Reduce commute times as well.

The recent TJ renovation ended up costing north of $100 million. And that was with a pre-existing infrastructure. It definitely would make sense to open one out in Herndon or thereabouts, but that pricetag is really rough, especially with a few high schools still set to undergo renovation. |
Don't forget about $20 million in lab equipment. |
If not more. The planetarium itself is probably about that much. |
What is the evidence that this isn't people just saying yes to free lunch question? |
VMPI told us that calculus wasn't important in high school. These kids were in multivariate calculus and calculus based physics as well. |
Do you TJ coalition people ever get tired of thread jacking? Can't even have a nice post without you poisoning it. May be time to find a hobby. |
wow they just want to help the elite families who can afford and deny many gifted kids an opportunity |
It is kind of ironic that their desire for a small but unfair advantage to game the system will ultimately for FCPS to go to a lottery system. |
It is kind of ironic that that board's desire for a small but unfair advantage for their cronies to game the system will ultimately lead them to demise and have a lasting precedent against affirmative action. |
If they were gifted they wouldn't need the bonus for experience factors. |
