Is Hawaii overrated?

The Hawaiian's new favorite thing is to go to the beaches at the resorts and be super annoying. They do things like put their chairs and blankets right next to yours, accidentally kick sand on you, accidentally throw balls/frisbees at you, etc.

I go 2-3 times a year to visit him but I really hate giving them my tourism dollars.

I am Asian and found the locals very welcoming. Locals typically do not like entitling behavior that some Americans bring with them. Maybe you gave off that vibe?

What are you talking about, that Hawaiians don’t like Americans? They ARE Americans!!

It is not overrated. It is underrated and if you buy from North shore food trucks, grocers, and japanese, and fairs/table vendors, priceline, it is a bargain!

We went to Maui and had no issues with the mainlanders. But there are stupid tourists who aren’t self aware, like the ones who don’t pull over to let locals pass on the road to Hana. They definitely piss off the locals and I don’t blame the locals for hating them.

It's not overrated but if travel time is a consideration, then Hawaii may not be the best choice. Each island is different. It's also kind of a pain going from island to island.

Totally agree. We went to Hawaii last summer and loved it. The Big Island has 8 of 13 climate zones, so you can see lots of different topography from volcanoes to rainforests.
