I don't know how that's possible.

Truthfully he told me awhile ago. I know his SAT was 1300. I'm a pretty laid back mom.

My kid's school mails report cards home, so I know his GPA....does your kid's school not do that? Or do you just not open it?

DP. Some parents really don't know. DC has a 4.59 gpa and I overheard DH telling someone that he thinks DC has about a 4.3. DH does look at the grades on the report card.

But these usually aren't the people who read/post on DCUM college forum.

What grades or type of student when it gets in to JMU? Honest question.

^ wouldn’t get into ...

Umm... someone with bad grades/a poor student?

Well, my son has a 3.8 GPA and a 1470 SAT and was waitlisted, so I guess that means he's a poor student?

Yield protection.

I think so too. My 2020 DD got in with 3.3 and 1210 (and straight from EA, no deferral). She went somewhere else but I remember not being surprised she got in. Times have changed!

My 2020 son did not get in with a 3.4 and a 1310 SAT (30 ACT.)
I wonder how much it depends on the major they are applying for?

My non-Big3 private school student got in EA with 3.3 GPA and test optional. They were near the edge for their school based on the scatter grams. Will be going elsewhere, they just couldn't get past the highway bisecting it.

This was definitely noticeable in the 90s but MUCH less now.

Agree. The campus is spectacular.

Congrats to all that were accepted. My DC had four fabulous years at JMU. Campus and facilities are fabulous and impeccable. I agree with others that the highway is not at all noticeable.

Wow. They must have had a HUGE pool of applicants.

Sorry.

That has to be yield protection. That makes no sense.

I feel like the PP is a troll.

Hi, not a troll. Sorry that my 17 year old didn’t like JMU. I’m sure there’s at least one other kid out there turning them down. Hopefully they’ll go on to live a fulfilling life not being a Duke.

Our DC is there now and as hard as it may be to believe, 81 isn't really noticeable. You really don't hear it and because the campus is higher than the road you don't see it except in the stadium if you are sitting in some of the higher seats. And there is both a tunnel over it and bridge under that makes the two parts of campus function as one.

Yep. The people who claim the highway "bisects" the campus clearly haven't even really been on campus. There is west (quad, more traditional, etc.) and east (newer, science buildings, etc.) campus. As you said, the two areas are connected by a tunnel and pedestrian bridge(s). It's not like there's a highway down the middle of the quad. People are so ridiculous about that. It's a non-issue altogether.
