Based on the MCAP Algebra results that I am seeing, there were a LOT of kids who fell through the cracks.

I was simply offering my kid’s experience - a textbook was beneficial for her and the MCPS class offered at her middle school was missing large chunks of information.

My goodness. MCPS is THE largest public school in the state of Maryland. If students in MCPS are not doing well, the state results will represent that.

Or are you saying that MCPS students are doing great in Algebra and it’s the ‘other’ Maryland schools districts that are dragging the state scores down? That seems unlikely.

So what it's the largest? It's one out 24 school districts. MCPS is doing fine.

Yes, I have kids in MCPS. One took Alg1 MCAP this past fall.

So, is it always taken in 8th? I'm trying to figure out why my child hasn't taken it.

Parents demanded less screen time and no homework and easier classes. They won. This is the consequence is that kids aren't getting what they need academically.

Has anyone addressed the possibility of there being some kind of error in the test or the scoring of it? Even with the pandemic and reduced curriculum, I find it difficult to believe that 94% would fail to meet standards. Can we see the questions and answers?

Even levels above Algebra have gaps solely from the point that MCPS reduced the curriculum content. The long term plan to fill in gaps was never planned for. MCPS still isn’t filling in gaps so I (like so many MCPS parents) have a private math tutor for my child.
