Agree. Opt out of the survey. |

My kid took Algebra 1 in 7th, in school year 2019-20. No exam given that year because they went and stayed virtual in the spring. Took geometry in 8th (2020-21), no exams given that year, either.
Taking Algebra 2 this year in 9th, still wasn’t slated for the Algebra exam with the Fall 2021 “makeup” tests from the previous year. Nobody can tell us whether she’ll eventually have to take the Algebra 1 exam. So far, nothing on Synergy indicates that she’s exempt; it still says “not taken.” She’ll be taking Precalc next year, then some sort of IB math the next two. Presumably all those will have enough of an algebra component that she could pass if they eventually make her take it, but the lack of information is stunning. |
It is easier and better for optics if MCPS does NOT provide parents this information. So, they just placate parents (like with this test, by saying not to worry about the abysmal results). |
Maybe parents would be more welcoming towards spending tax money on an ‘anti-racism audit’ if they felt their kids were getting a solid education. Across the board, at all grade levels, students performed terribly on these tests. MCPS needs to address that before it spends a single additional cent on ‘anti-racist’ surveys. |
The results you're seeing is for the state. My goodness. |
DP.. where is MCPS's result? |
My goodness. MCPS is THE largest public school in the state of Maryland. If students in MCPS are not doing well, the state results will represent that. Or are you saying that MCPS students are doing great in Algebra and it’s the ‘other’ Maryland schools districts that are dragging the state scores down? That seems unlikely. |
MCPS usually reports the numbers for state wide assessments. Has it been published? If not, why not? They publish all the other testing metrics. https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/data/LAR-charts/MCAP-MATH-PARCC.html https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/data/individual-measures.html |
So what it's the largest? It's one out 24 school districts. MCPS is doing fine. So ya'll deliberately trying to mislead people into thinking this is MCPS scores. |
How do you know that MCPS is "doing fine"? Can you provide the link where MCPS published the scores? |
Actually, you are the one posting misinformation and trying to mislead people. Please post stats that show that the majority of MCPS students performed well on the MCAP. That is simply not true. MCPS is clearly not ‘doing fine’. |
So what that it’s the largest? You must not understand how math works. So why are y’all deliberately trying to spread alternative facts. Unless you have data to back up your claim (which you don’t) that the majority of MCPS met expectations for the Algebra MCAP, you are clearly trying to push fake news. Why would you even do that? |
| MCPS is not "doing fine". Anyone has the details on the MCAP that says otherwise? I'm curious why MCPS hasn't reported it. |
This post and the two above tell me that you are MCPS parents. |
Are you new in MCPS? Do you even have kids in MCPS? |
